Is Thailand Value for money
Depends what you talk about. I lived in America and I was not able to find Cafes of the high quality that are all over the place in Chiang Mai. Those giant theme Cafes like a Disney world or Park. Shopping Malls also are of higher quality in Thailand than in the US. Restaurants, okay, there's great restaurants in the US, but there's equally awesome ones in Thailand. The thing is you don't get what you pay for in the US, you pay a giant price for a Thai massage, but it's unlikely to beat a 1300 Baht Spa massage in Thailand. There's degraded places in the US too, it's not all Wyoming super ranches. -

How will this bill demand Sanctuary Cities cooperate with the ruling if passed?
As for so-called sanctuary cities and their supposed correlation with crime rates: "In an August 2016 study of roughly 80 jurisdictions, University of California at Riverside and Highline College researchers used FBI city-level crime data to see how violent and property crime rates changed after sanctuary policies were adopted. Then they compared each sanctuary city to a similarly situated, non-sanctuary city, based on census data and other variables. They found that “a sanctuary policy itself has no statistically meaningful effect on crime.” [emphasis added] University of California at San Diego professor Tom Wong looked at 608 sanctuary counties and found lower rates of crime in those counties than in non-sanctuary counties. This is a video (posted on x) of the early stages of the incident. The bus-driver (photo below - blue stripes) - did not run away after all... though he escaped the vehicle and had time to run and get a fire extinguisher from 'somewhere'... Though - what I don't understand is if he could get out and get across the road, why could the kids not also get out.... The 'front door of the bus could open - but the back door of the bus would not open - he tried to et something, but could not open the door'.... Could the fire extinguisher - that we see the driver carrying back not have been used to smash the windows (I know - 20/20 hindsight). Someone was videoing this on their phone, instead of doing something... They could have pulled their car next to the bus, stood on the roof... smashed the windows etc... -

If yu look at the CCTV footage posted by Gerogalbert the buses don't appear to be speeding and they have a safe distance between them. It definitely doesn't look like dangerous driving was the main cause. -

more than likely a left front wheel bearing that seized bringing the bus to a grinding halt with the heat intense enough to cause convection heat to ignite the buses interior..check out the CCTV of the bus passing the camera behind another bus from perhaps the same company..watch the smoke emanating as it came to a stop. RIP -

Is Thailand Value for money
Massage and hair cuts are the best value of money I experience here. The massage is not as medical as you may find for 20x the price in the US but for enjoyment it's an amazing deal. Hair cuts I prefer over USA any time but a wealthy person expecting a pristine salon would be disappointed. Not me though I love the Thai barber shops. They have a cozy feeling I don't get from the bland chains that liter America. -

This is CCTV footage from around 12:06, on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road (inbound) captured the moment of the incident. The footage shows the three buses traveling in the middle lane, one following the other. If you look closely, just before a curve in the road, a black Mercedes-Benz can be seen in the right-hand lane next to the second bus. As the second bus approached the curve, it entered alongside the black Mercedes-Benz. Later, smoke appears to begin to billow from the area. I have zoomed the video, to highlight the incident area, but that has reduced the quality of the image. My Movie.mp4 -

Is Thailand Value for money
Thailand is cheap because it's lower quality. That's just a fact as far as I'm concerned. But is it a good value for money? I think we all agree it is or we wouldn't be here. When I go back to US is very apparent how much things in Thailand are lower quality but you get what you pay for. We know that going in and I personally enjoy the more simple life anyways so it works out perfectly. I think people with serious money and expecting a high standard of living would struggle here. Sure you can lock yourself down in the most affluent parts of the country but you need to leave your house eventually and then you'll experience what the real Thailand is like. -

Our kids' school only uses Montri buses for excursions and everyone wears seatbelts. I have never ever seen a Montri bus being driven badly on the roads, so I feel comfortable with that. Seat belts in their fleet since 1991, alcohol detection machines for drivers since 1999. You can never be totally safe but in Thailand I think this is by far the most reputable company.
