Mae Sai Riverside Residents Urged to Evacuate Amid Flood Threat

Mae Sai residents are bracing for more flooding as heavy rain is predicted to hit the region. Just a month after devastating floods, officials have issued another alert, urging the evacuation of riverside homes due to expected overflows from the Sai River.

The Tambon Mae Sai municipal office issued the warning yesterday, stating that heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted through Thursday. This could potentially raise the water levels in the Sai River, posing a significant flood risk to adjacent communities.

Authorities are advising residents in these flood-prone areas to relocate temporarily. Suggested safe havens include homes of relatives, communal shelters, or local temples. The urgency stems from the fact that many riverside houses are still unoccupied, bearing the brunt of damage from the last flood and remaining filled with mud.

As the community prepares for the worst, efforts are underway to ensure everyone's safety, highlighting the resilience and solidarity of the Mae Sai residents in the face of recurring natural adversities.
