Workplaces in Thailand lack psychological safety nets for employees facing stress, depression and other mental health issues, according to campaigners marking World Mental Health Day 2024.

The World Health Organisation has chosen “Mental Health at Work” as the theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day, observed on Thursday, October 10.

The theme aims to encourage governments, employers, workers’ organisations, and other stakeholders to collaborate in creating safe, healthy working environments that serve to protect mental health.

Thailand Employers Are not held accountable for there employee health or safety there are no Government mandates, an employer, should be  required by law to protect  employees, and others, from harm.

for example in the uk

Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the minimum you must do is:

  • identify what could cause injury or illness in your business (hazards)
  • decide how likely it is that someone could be harmed and how seriously (the risk)
  • take action to eliminate the hazard, or if this isn't possible, control the risk

Assessing risk is just one part of the overall process used to control risks in your workplace.

for workers Health Thailand is in the dark ages

Today, we should join together in sympathy for those on this forum who have severe mental health issues

Thankyou Simon.

Your sympathy means a lot to me.

I would have thought inflation/cost of living/war would have been the highest priority mental health issue but who I am to argue against the WHO, the most trusted and neutral global organisation.
