A Japanese tourist was found dead on October 10, in his hotel room in Phuket after leaving a heartfelt farewell note expressing confusion and illness. The tragic discovery was made by a housekeeper who was shocked by the scene.

At 12:30 Pol. Lt. Visanu Chalak, an investigator with the Sakhu Police Station, received a report from the station’s emergency call centre about the death of a foreign tourist in a hotel room in Moo 5, Sakhu Subdistrict, Phuket. The incident was immediately reported to Pol. Col. Salan Santisasanakul, Chief of Sakhu Police Station. Medical staff from Vachira Phuket Hospital, along with rescue teams and local foundation officials, were called to the scene.

The housekeeper explained that she had knocked on the door but received no response. Using a spare key, she entered the room to clean and was horrified to discover the tourist had hanged himself.

Initial investigations were conducted by the forensic team from Vachira Phuket Hospital. Police found no signs of a struggle in the room, but they recovered a note written in Japanese, in which the deceased expressed feelings of loneliness, depression, and mentioned several prior suicide attempts. The note has been kept as evidence.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Mr. Masaru, a Japanese tourist who had been staying alone. Forensic doctors estimated that he had been dead for approximately 6 to 8 hours before being found.

The body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination. The Japanese embassy in Thailand has been notified, and arrangements are being made to inform the family and arrange repatriation of the body.
