The police have charged  three people in connection with the tragic bus fire, in which 23 children and teachers were killed. Those charged were the bus driver, the vehicle owner, and the owner of the tour bus company.  A senior police officer said the investigation is looking into whether others  such as the gas system installation company, transport officials, and engineers, would  also liable for criminal action.


Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra met  Chinese PM Li Qiang yesterday at the ASEAN summit being held in Vientiane, Laos.


She proposed the two countries jointly declare 2025 as the "Golden Year of Friendship" to celebrate 50 years of Thai - Chinese diplomatic relations.

 

More than 20 victims have filed complaints claiming fraud against an online business promoter. A lawyer believes several celebrity executives could face prosecution for operating a pyramid scheme. with one victim saying she was pressured to pay 2,500 followed by further fees. Another victim, who invested over 200,000 baht, considered suicide. Their lawyer estimates about 500 people may be affected by the scheme. 

The Thailand Development Research Institute is urging the government to implement strategies to address climate change due to its significant risks to the economy and society. Increasingly severe and frequent flooding is partly driven by rising global temperatures. The institute's research teams will propose policy measures to help Thailand transition into a climate-resilient economy and society.

China's former deputy governor of the central bank Fan Yifei, has been sentenced to death for taking bribes with a two-year reprieve, amid a sweeping anti-graft drive in the financial sector.


He was found guilty of illegally accepting property worth more than $54 million dollars and taking advantage of his senior positions at the central bank and other financial institutions.
