      18 Year Old Man Climbs High Voltage Power Pole After Marital Dispute

      An 18-year-old man in Rayong, climbed a 65 metre high-voltage power pole in a suicide attempt due to marital distress. Rescue workers had to contact his wife to convince him to come down safely. At approximately 14:00 on October 13, officers from the Nikom Phatthana Police Station and Siam Rayong Rescue Unit were dispatched to Soi 6 in the Nikom Phatthana Subdistrict after receiving reports of a young man threatening to take his life. Upon arrival, they found Mr. Sahaphat (last name withheld), sitting approximately 15 metres above the ground. Rescue workers attempted to persuade him to descend and talk, but their efforts were unsuccessful. He revealed that he had been arguing with his wife and had tried to take his life on two previous occasions, including a recent attempt to hang himself, which was thwarted by a friend. Prachai Daree, a rescue worker, decided to call Mr. Sahaphat’s wife and devised a plan to encourage him to come down for a conversation. After about 20 minutes of negotiation, Mr. Sahaphat agreed to climb down, wanting to speak to his wife. He requested her to wait for approximately two minutes while he descended. Investigations revealed that the couple had been experiencing long-standing issues, leading to their separation. Mr. Sahaphat had taken on the responsibility of raising their child and was hoping to reconcile, but his wife was unwilling. The day before this incident, he had attempted to end his life again but was saved by a friend. Authorities believe Mr. Sahaphat’s actions were a desperate plea for attention from his wife, who remained uninterested. Fortunately, police and rescue personnel successfully negotiated with him, ensuring his safe return to the ground. Following the incident, police provided him with counselling before releasing him.       Passenger Van Crashes into 18-Wheeler Truck, Passengers Injured

      In an early morning incident on October 13, a passenger van collided with the rear of an 18-wheeler truck on the Mittraphap-Khon Kaen road, heading out of Nakhon Ratchasima towards Khon Kaen. The incident occurred in front of a convenience store in Ban Bing, Non Sung District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Upon arrival at the scene, rescue teams from Hook 31 Nakhon Ratchasima, Non Sung Station, discovered the passenger van, registered in Ubon Ratchathani, with its front completely wrecked and wedged against the back of the truck, which is registered in Udon Thani. There were 10 people in the van and several passengers had already managed to exit the van with multiple visible injuries, prompting the rescue team to provide first aid. One passenger remained trapped in the front passenger seat. Rescue workers quickly deployed hydraulic cutters to remove the van door and successfully freed the individual, who was still conscious. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Preliminary reports from the rescue team indicated that none of the six injured passengers sustained life-threatening injuries. Authorities suspect that the van driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash into the truck, which was traveling normally on the road. A major drone attack on the Golani brigade in israel evaded israeli air defences and injured many and possibly 3 dead. https://www.newsweek.com/dozens-injured-hezbollah-attack-israel-1968310 The AP shared Israeli rescue services reports that said at least 40 people were injured after the Lebanese militant group said it had launched a "swarm of drones" at the Golani Brigade's camp in the northern Israeli town of Binyamina, about 30 miles south of Haifa. At least three people were "critically" injured, according to the AP, which shared footage of a helicopter arriving at Sheba Medical Center with the injured. The drones reportedly did not trigger Israel's alarm system.

      Over 200 Vehicles Damaged After Municipality Resurfaces Road Without Warning Signs

      More than 200 vehicles were damaged after the Trang Municipality resurfaced a road with asphalt without putting up any warning signs. Many affected motorists have filed complaints, prompting the municipality to finally install warning signs and offer compensation. The incident occurred during a road improvement project conducted by Trang Municipality on the parallel railway road (South). The contractor was awarded a budget of 6,030,000 baht for the project. On October 12, starting around 15:00, the contractor began applying asphalt over the entire road surface. However, the resurfacing process was carried out without closing the road to traffic or providing any warning signs. Drivers, unaware of the fresh asphalt, continued using the road, which led to the asphalt sticking to the tyres of both cars and motorcycles. The sticky asphalt was flung up onto the undercarriage, wheel arches, and paintwork of the vehicles, causing damage to nearly 200 cars. Many of the affected drivers have since filed police reports at Trang City Police Station, as previously reported in the news. In response to the incident, the Facebook page PR Nakorntrang News posted a message from Dr. Sanya Sriwichien, Mayor of Trang, who ordered immediate corrective action and compensation for those affected. He confirmed that instructions were given to the contractor to install “Road Closed, No Entry” signs at three key entrances: Kantang Road, Khlong Nam Jed Road, and Wang Tor Road. The municipality has also pledged to coordinate with the contractor to ensure that any claims for damages will be compensated. Affected individuals are encouraged to contact the Trang Municipal Public Works Office for assistance.       Newborn Survives After Being Abandoned in Long Grass: Phetchabun

      In a miraculous turn of events, a newborn baby girl was rescued after being abandoned in long grass in Phetchabun province. The baby, wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a plastic bag, was found alive and is now under medical care. The incident came to light when a 28-year-old woman from Phetchabun, identified only as Ms. Sujitra, was admitted to Lom Sak Hospital due to excessive bleeding and abdominal pain. Upon questioning, she admitted to having given birth and leaving the newborn in the area located in Wat Pa Subdistrict, Lom Sak District. Rescue workers from the Kok Sai Rescue Unit were immediately dispatched to search for the baby. Upon arrival, they found a yellow plastic bag in a grassy area, partially hidden among tall vegetation. Inside, they discovered a green plastic basin containing a blue cloth. To their shock, the cloth moved, revealing the presence of a newborn. The baby, who was still alive, was immediately rushed to Lom Sak Hospital for urgent care. Authorities revealed that Ms. Sujitra had delivered the baby herself, wrapped her in towels, and placed her in the basin before abandoning her in the forest. The baby girl is now stable under the care of medical professionals. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the mother’s motives for abandoning the child. As news of the baby’s survival spread, local villagers seized upon the baby’s birth weight as potential lucky numbers for the upcoming lottery draw on October 16. Many have already rushed to buy tickets in the hopes that the baby’s extraordinary fortune might bring them luck. best alternative to a fixline internet provider

at my house, there’s only one internet provider available, and no competitors are allowed to operate within the residential community. this provider has been trying to resolve a wifi connecting issue for weeks now, without success.

 

the problem isn’t the speed, but around 8 different devices can’t connect at all to the wifi or only stay connected for a few hours (including a new vivo phone, all apple devices, xiaomi cctv, tv, etc.). but the same internet landline works through a wifi hotspot (via phone), but this is just a temporary solution. the strange thing is, we didn’t have any issues with the same devices and the same provider for several years ...

 

what alternatives are there? does anyone have experience with routers that use a sim card? is satellite wifi an option? maybe other advice?

I am in a rural area without a fixed line provider.  I use a True Data only SIM with a TPLINK DECO SIM Router and three TPLINK DECO 6E acting as a Mesh across the house (which has two floors.  We run CCTV, two televisions (Netflix etc) and a Cinema Room, Apple phones and Mac without much problem.  There is a lag sometimes during heavy rain and evening when I think traffic picks up.  But generally I have been very impressed.  

 

Previous to this we used an AIS SIM Router with Linksys Mesh.  The TPLINK DECO has thus far proved far superior though a "hard" (unplug from electricity) reset is sometimes needed.   Cost for the data from memory is 1299 per month (unlimited).

 

That being said when fibre does become available I will certainly switch but keep the SIM as backup.

 

You could look at a Mesh system off your fixed line router and have your devices connect to them?

I take it they have tried changing the modem/router or is it your own?

If it worked before and no settings have been changed sounds like their equipment?

You have to check firstly what LTE bands/Networks are available at your location. No point in buying a Truemove H package if there's no good signal at your location.

 

Cheapest 'max speed' unlimited data option is the NT Thunder SIM; 1 month, 3 month and 6 month durations for 199, 399 and 599 baht respectively. But unless you have good coverage of LTE Band 40, useless. 

The way to find out if you have coverage is to go to Google Maps, find your exact location and then copy the Longitude and Latitude details from the URL and paste them into the NT Wireless website.

first of all, thank you for the responses and suggestions. it seems like we are not the only one facing this issue ...

 

quick update: yesterday, while i wasn't at home, the internet company installed agian a new router (no. 3) and

made some adjustments to the settings. it looks like the 'connection problem with various devices' has been now

resolved. hopefully, this will be a long-term solution ...

 

we're actually quite satisfied with the service from this internet provider (a government-owned company). they

respond quickly and make an effort to find a prompt solution. internet speed isn't so important to us, but reliability

and a stable connection definitely are ...

Should the issue return, an idea is to buy another router and connect it to the ISP's router using an ethernet cable.  You then have full access to all settings, configurations, passwords etc etc because you own it.  

 

You connect your devices to your own router. 

 

No need for anything expensive.  It's just to give you full and complete access to the settings of that router. 

 

Basically, just use the supplied ISP router as a gateway.
