An incident unfolded in the Ratchaprapa District of Nakhon Si Thammarat when a husband accidentally shot his wife, resulting in her tragic death. The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle, leaving police in pursuit as they continue their investigation into the circumstances.

The shooting occurred on the evening of October 13, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongwut Wutipong, an investigator at Ron Phibun Police Station, received a report of the incident at an unnamed hut in Moo 8, Ron Phibun Subdistrict.

Upon receiving the report, Deputy Superintendent Phaithoon Intrapiboon and the local investigation team, accompanied by a medical examiner and the Siam Ruam Jai Foundation, arrived at the scene to investigate.

At the location, the lifeless body of 40 year old Ms. Wasana, a resident of Moo 3, Prik Subdistrict, Thung Yai District, was found. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound from a .22 caliber firearm between her neck and chest. The shooter was identified as her husband, 40 year old Mr. Chatchai, a resident of Moo 10, Ron Phibun Subdistrict, who had fled on his motorcycle before police arrived.

According to nearby residents, the couple had been living in the hut while working as hired labourers on a local farm. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot before Mr. Chatchai ran to neighbours, claiming he had accidentally fired the gun at his wife. Despite calling for help, by the time authorities reached the scene, Ms. Wasana had already succumbed to her injuries.

Mr. Chatchai vanished from the scene before police arrived, and efforts are ongoing to locate him for further questioning. Police have yet to determine the exact cause of the shooting and are working to gather evidence and witness statements to uncover the truth behind the incident.

The police remain in active pursuit of Mr. Chatchai, who is still at large, and have called for any witnesses or those with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
