August 6, 200718 yr Second that. The Doi Saket temple is well worth a visit. Nice view too. I recall one of the temples along Rachadamnoen Rd. (used for the walking street market on Sundays) also has pretty good ones, but I cannot remember which one of them. Perhaps somebody else will know.

August 7, 200718 yr Wat Chang Man - the oldest temple in Chiangmai and once the site of Megrai's palace, and before that the core of a Lawa city before the Tai (no "h") arrived, has got some interesting murals reportedly depicting the history of Chiangmai. Wat Chedi Liam at Wieng Kum Kam (just south of the Mahidol road) has got some fabulous murals along the Buddhist theme, inside and out - especially the one on the western outside wall of the viharn Gaz
August 7, 200718 yr Author Thanks for all the great info. I read about a temple called Wat Buak Krok Luang which is apparently near Doi Sakate. Anyone know about it? I was mainly interested in city temples as I don't have too much time here but I'll try and get out to Doi Sakate. Thanks again.
