A shooting occurred in the Om Noi area of Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon at around 00.30 on October 24. A lone gunman followed and shot a motorcycle repairman while he was riding home on his motorbike. The incident took place at a three-way junction in Soi Phetkasem 97, near the Liap Khlong Om Noi Road.

Local police, led by Pol. Col. Theeradej Athipakkul, Deputy Superintendent of Samut Sakhon Provincial Police, and other authorities quickly responded to the scene. The victim was identified as Mr. Chanchai Noicharoen, 43, a resident of Om Noi. He was found lying in a pool of blood, his helmet nearby, along with his black Honda motorbike. Police discovered three 9mm bullet casings on the ground, and an examination of the body revealed gunshot wounds to the head, left chest, and back.

A woman who had been riding as a passenger on Mr. Chanchai’s motorcycle at the time of the shooting was unharmed. Police took her for questioning in hopes of gaining leads on the attacker.

Witnesses reported seeing Mr. Chanchai’s motorbike being followed by another motorcycle just before the shooting. They initially paid little attention, as the area typically sees a lot of motorbike traffic. However, at the three-way junction, both bikes slowed down, and a brief conversation occurred between Mr. Chanchai and the shooter.

Suddenly, the attacker, who had not covered his face, drew a gun and fired three shots, causing Mr. Chanchai to collapse. The female passenger jumped off the bike at the first shot but stayed close to witness the scene. Startled bystanders scattered after the shots rang out, and none saw the full sequence of events.

After the assailant fled, locals called the police, but when rescue workers arrived, it was too late to save Mr. Chanchai’s life.

The victim’s parents said their son worked as a motorcycle mechanic in the Phutthamonthon Sai 5 area and returned home late every night. Recently, he had been picking up his girlfriend after work. They expressed shock and confusion, as their son had never mentioned any conflicts or threats.

Pol. Col. Theeradej ordered investigators to review CCTV footage to trace the gunman’s route and identify his escape. Witnesses and the female passenger are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Mr. Chanchai’s body has been sent for further examination at Siriraj Hospital’s Forensic Institute.
