In a landmark case, Azman Porloh has been sentenced to over five years in prison by the Na Thawi Provincial Court for his role in unlawfully possessing and accumulating military weapons. Despite facing numerous allegations of terrorism and violence in Songkhla, this is the first trial to conclude against him.

Azman, suspected of orchestrating high-profile terror attacks, was arrested with four associates on 17 September. The arrest took place on Highway 42, a major route connecting Pattani and Narathiwat, where authorities recovered a flag linked to the BRN separatist group and other incriminating evidence from his vehicle.

His criminal dossier is marked by 18 outstanding warrants, with 13 related to security and terrorism concerns, and five to vehicle theft. Notably, he is accused of a destructive bombing incident in 2019 and a December 2022 railway attack causing multiple casualties and injuries. However, these accusations remain untried.

Yesterday's court verdict focuses solely on charges regarding the illegal possession and storage of arms, marking a significant turn in his ongoing legal battles. The outcomes of other pending trials remain closely watched by the public and officials alike.
