Elon Musk Criticizes Dana Carvey’s ‘SNL’ Impression, Calls Show ‘Out of Touch

Elon Musk didn’t hold back when reacting to a recent “Saturday Night Live” episode that poked fun at him. The billionaire took to X, his social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to respond to the show’s cold opening, where Dana Carvey portrayed Musk in a comedic sketch that also showcased support for President-elect Donald Trump.

In this sketch, Carvey, known for his previous impression of President Joe Biden, appeared as a version of Musk who endorsed Trump. Donning a black MAGA hat, Carvey, 69, played a Musk who proclaimed, “Check it out dark MAGA.” As he continued his impersonation, Carvey’s Musk joked, “But seriously, I run the country now.”

Musk, known for his outspoken nature, fired back at both Carvey and "SNL," criticizing the show as “dying slowly” and “increasingly out of touch with reality.” He remarked, “SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality.” Musk also suggested that the show was attempting to influence public opinion before the election, saying, “Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.” This comment referenced the Federal Communications Commission’s Equal Time rule, with Musk pointing to recent backlash from the FCC commissioner over Vice President Kamala Harris’s appearance on the show.

In another comment, Musk questioned Carvey’s impersonation skills, writing, “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.” He further noted, “They are so mad that @realDonaldTrump won @nbcsnl,” seemingly suggesting that the show’s creators were unhappy with Trump’s victory.

Carvey’s impression was part of an episode hosted by comedian Bill Burr, where the cold opening took a lighthearted approach to the election’s aftermath. In his role as Musk, Carvey quipped, “America’s going to be like one of my rockets,” referencing Musk’s SpaceX ventures. “They’re super cool and super fun, but there’s a slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies. Haha!” he joked, concluding with, “See you in the White House!” The sketch then shifted to a group performance of “Y.M.C.A.,” a song that has become iconic at Trump’s rallies, with the cast mocking the enthusiasm of Trump supporters.

Musk himself hosted “SNL” in 2021, so his recent criticism comes after having personally appeared on the show. His harsh response reflects his growing frustration with media portrayals of him, particularly as the tech mogul continues to make headlines both for his business ventures and his public persona.

The skit was funny but it took absolutely no talent. Anybody in that outfit could have done it. Musk is also right the entire world knows SNL hasn't been relevant in decades.

Another thin skinned right wing spud. At least team MAGA has someone new to put their crosshairs on. Obsessing & spewing hate about Alec Baldwin is getting old.

Methinks Master Musk doth protest too much.

For a man in his position, one would hope he had thicker skin. The fact that he is so over sensitive does point toward some serious self esteem issues. I would recommend 300 hours of good therapy. Or just looking within for the source of the problem.

Maybe, just maybe he is a snowflake, and loves being a victim? Regardless, anyone who reacts like this appears to be quite a wimp. Remind you of anyone?

Me thinks you would never even ever let a pic of yourself be viewed by the public. Mew thinks there are a lot of incels on here that belittle other people based upon looks. Show us a pic JT.

So it’s perfectly okay for Musk himself to make sick jokes, like why no one had attempted to assassinate Harris yet (which he repeated several times), but when they make fun of him he gets his panties in a bunch. Just another right wing lunatic crybaby who likes to dish it out, but can’t take one on the chin like a man.

I see a man in midlife crisis.

I like Carvey, his impressions are usually pretty funny but this one fell a bit flat, Musk is too bland for a decent parody.

Chopping broccoli !!
