Trump's picks show he's going for maximum chaos, division and dysfunction in government. That's the Heritage's Society's manifesto to destroy government which is now Trump's marching orders.

God bless President Trump and the Heritage Society

Perhaps Trump thought the only real qualification for secdef was the ability to host a news conference. Seems like a real slap in the face to the military, who he falsely claims to honor and respect. Actions speak so much  louder than fake words and false platitudes.

The more the MSM dislike President Elect Donald Trump's appointments, the more appropriate the appointment is. Regard the MSM as a political barometer. If the "press" agree with an appointment, it's time to start worrying. :coffee1:

There are a lot of people that believe that many of the  "...current skilled and educated officers are...rank driven yesmen, and that the US military has already become politicized.

And there are alot of people who believe that 9/11 was an inside job and that president Bush brought the Twin Towers down. There are also alot of people who believe that aliens have visited them in the trailer park and carried out anal probes.  The selection of a Cabinet member is a serious undertaking and is quickly becoming a farce.

He was not.

The  police department  chose not to proceed further. The Monterey police department  is relatively small and is in a county that has had an unusual number of lawsuits alleging police misconduct. The local jail  has  lost its 6th consecutive case. The most recent was a wrongful death case where the Monterey PD took a woman to jail where she died.  This certainly does not  make Hegseth guilty, but does lend credence to the suspicion that the police may have not given the case the attention it  deserved. Of concern is the fact that the  case came as a surprise to the Trump transition team. Had they been following proper protocol and allowing the FBI to do background checks, this would have been discovered before the nomination was announced.  At the very least, the nomination merits proper review by the  US Senate.

Okay we shall see. He wasn't charged and normally we give the benefit of the doubt.

What seems "...like a real slap in the face to the military..." might be that you disparage a man that you would likely not make the pimple on the a** of.

You may not like him, but you should read his bio and apologize.

It's not like the military is in great shape right now.

We only give the benefit of the doubt to leftists. Anyone on the right is assumed guilty until proven innocent.

You still haven’t proven he was vindicated. "Vindication" doesn’t equal innocence, and it certainly doesn’t mean someone deserves your trust.

Would you really give the benefit of the doubt and feel comfortable with your daughter being alone with someone you consider a "vindicated rapist"?

Maybe you’ll just see first.

Why would the Trump Administration trust the FBI with anything?

With that flawless argument, your political science degree and critical thinking are really shining through.

Your flawless argument seems to be an investigation the results in no arrest, and no charges, much less a conviction is disqualifying.

Link? Did you make that up?

Are you denying that you told me you have a degree in political science, which supposedly gives you great insight into critical thinking?

David Anderman has been reporting that Pete Hegseth is a white supremist, any truth to it?

Does the Latin phrase "Deus Vult" mean anything to you?

A man who in 2021 was a member of the same National Guard unit as Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump's pick to be defense secretary, confirmed he sent a letter to his superiors warning that a tattoo Hegseth bears indicated that he was a potential "insider threat" ahead of President Biden's inauguration.

He said in his letter, which CBS News obtained, "White-Supremacist use of #Deus Vult and a return to medieval Catholicism, is to invoke the myth of a white Christian (i.e. Catholic) medieval past that wishes to ignore the actual demographics and theological state of Catholicism today."

He added, "Deus Vult has enjoyed popularity with members of the alt-right because of its perceived representation of the clash of civilizations between the Christian west and the Islamic world."

As a combat veteran like Hegseth I believe  his nomination as Secretary of Defense is a mistake.  Hegseth has degrees from 2 Ivy League Univeristies and is an Iraq Combat veteran but there are two things that concern me about him:  1) He has been with Fox News for a long time (8 years) 2) He has publicly demonstrated absolute loyalty to Donald Trump.  Can he be objective and disagree with POTUS?

Hegseth rose to the rank of Captain and this is not a big deal because the rank of Capatin (O-3) is not difficult to achieve.  There are many captains running around in the armed forces. Sec Def is an executive level position that requires skills Hegseth has never displayed or demonstrated that he has experience in.  This nomination appears to be a reward for loyalty.

He might be in over his head or he could shock everyone and do a great job.  We shall see.

We can only hope that Congress people read the Wikipedia on this person and refuse to confirm him.

So, he has a tattoo that disqualifies him, got it.
