I have a small 2.5inch HHD I want to post to the UK

Wife took it to a main post office and when they asked what is in the box she told them, they said no!

The explanation was no ‘electronic items’ to be sent through the post to the UK – anyone else heard of this?

In Europe you will often see this rule too

they dont like to carry packets that have charged batteries inside

a HDD doesnt apply to this rule generally

best idea, lie and say its something else

I did think about that but I do know they scan everything going out of country so could(?) be caught out

Like all things its a risk

I assume the scan is to look for illegal drugs, weapons etc

not to see if the description fits the contents, as most of this is done by robotic scanners

The Thai PO doesn't like to send electronics by international mail anywhere, not just to the UK.

Have you spoken to UK Customs?  If they say no, then it’s a no, if they say yes, then you should be able to send it proving the customs declaration is completed correctly including the HS Code.

It is this end - Thailand - that is the problem, not the UK
