A 47-year-old man sustained serious injuries early morning on November 22, after falling from a pedestrian bridge on Theparak Road in the Sai Mai District of Bangkok.

The incident occurred at approximately 03:20, when Bang Khen Police Station received a report of a man falling from the bridge near Klong Thanon Subdistrict. Emergency responders from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and local police rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found Mr. Somkiat,  lying injured but conscious near the bridge opposite a local entertainment venue. He had suffered a fractured right leg, facial injuries, and significant bleeding. Paramedics provided immediate assistance and transported him to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital for urgent medical care.

Witnesses described the scene, with Mr. Somkiat seen walking unsteadily back and forth on the pedestrian bridge before climbing over the safety railing. He reportedly dangled precariously on the outer edge of the bridge, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol. Several bystanders filmed the incident, and one provided a video showing the moments before he fell.

“He seemed intoxicated and was pacing the bridge several times before climbing over the railing. It looked like he was trying to jump but hesitated multiple times,” one witness recounted.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether Mr. Somkiat’s actions were deliberate or accidental.

Thank god there were people there to record it on their mobile phones.  That's definitely the right thing to do when someone is in distress or danger.  🤦‍♂️
