Authorities are urgently searching for a suspect, believed to be a Myanmar national, who fled after attacking a Thai woman and leaving her with a severe neck injury.

The incident occurred at 16:05 on November 28 at a residential building on Soi Welcome in Jomtien, Pattaya, Nong Prue. Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan, Deputy Inspector of the Pattaya City Police Station, received the report and dispatched police officers and rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation to the scene.

Police cordoned off Room 43 on the 4th floor of the building to prevent unauthorised access. The victim, a Thai woman aged between 30 and 40, sustained a deep slash wound to her neck and was covered in blood. Rescue teams had already transported her to the hospital for emergency treatment, by the time police arrived.

The attacker fled the scene before authorities arrived. Nearby residents reported hearing the victim's cries for help but were unaware of the exact nature of the incident. They also noticed a man, described as a foreigner, running out of the building. This prompted them to contact the police, who quickly responded to assist the injured woman.

Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan inspected the crime scene and coordinated with an investigative team to track down the suspect. The cause of the attack remains unknown, and police are awaiting the victim's recovery to obtain her statement and gather more information to proceed with the case.

Authorities continue to investigate and search for the suspect, while the victim remains in a critical condition.

How does one discern a Burmese person, from say a Thai person, running away?

We  seem to be getting a lot of reports of violent behavior of what I presume are migrant workers.

Authorities in Pattaya have apprehended a Myanmar national accused of slashing a Thai woman's throat during a violent altercation. The incident occurred in the afternoon of November 28, 2024, at an apartment on Soi Welcome Jomtien, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Ms. Sariya Phakdee, sustained serious injuries to her neck. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. However, by 16:00 on November 29, officers from Pattaya City Police Station received a tip-off that the suspect had returned to his apartment.

Upon investigation, police found the suspect, Mr. Jike Ki Soe, a Myanmar national, hiding in a second-floor apartment after allegedly entering the building through a louvered window. Officers immediately arrested him and transported him to the Pattaya City Police Station for further investigation.

According to Mr. Jike Ki Soe's statement, he had arranged to pay Ms. Sariya 1,500 baht for sexual services, meeting her in Room 43, on the fourth floor of the apartment. During the encounter, Ms. Sariya allegedly urged him to hurry due to concerns that his girlfriend who was expected to return,  might discover them. This, coupled with his failure to perform sexually, caused him to become enraged.

He admitted to using a knife from the room to slash Ms. Sariya's neck. A struggle ensued, during which Ms. Sariya sustained additional injuries to her hand. After the attack, the suspect fled into nearby woods before returning to the apartment, where police later found and arrested him.

Ms. Sariya, who reportedly met the suspect through the dating application "ThaiFriendly," corroborated some details. She recounted that the suspect approached her multiple times from behind before attacking her. She fought back, sustaining injuries in the process, and managed to escape the room to seek help.

"I thought, 'Am I going to die?' during the struggle," Ms. Sariya stated, recalling the traumatic incident.

The suspect has confessed to all charges, including attempted murder, robbery causing physical and mental harm, and carrying a weapon in public. He is currently in custody and will face legal proceedings in accordance with Thai law.
