A shocking discovery of glass fragments in a dish of spaghetti at a popular pizza chain led to a consumer’s injury, sparking safety concerns. The incident, which occurred yesterday, November 28, has raised alarm among consumers and prompted discussions about food safety.

 

A member of a consumer group shared their alarming experience online after unknowingly chewing on glass pieces in their meal. Initially mistaken for crispy bacon, the sharp fragments caused cuts to the mouth and hand upon removal. Unfortunately, some glass was swallowed, leading to fears of potential internal injuries.

 

The victim recounted their ordeal, stating that they found the glass in spaghetti from a well-known pizza restaurant chain, commonly found in shopping malls. The size of the glass was described as being similar to a grain of rice. Despite the unpleasant incident, the individual expressed no intention to escalate the matter further, though they emphasised the need for improved hygiene and stricter measures against foreign objects in food to prevent future risks.

The restaurant has taken responsibility by waiving the cost of the meal and committing to covering any medical expenses if required. This response aims to reassure the affected customer and others who might be concerned about the safety of dining at this establishment, reported KhaoSod.

 

Occurrences of foreign objects in food, though rare, can have severe implications for both consumers and businesses. They can cause physical harm and damage a brand’s reputation, leading to a loss of consumer trust. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and thorough quality control in food preparation and service.

The Defamation laws in the country are such an obstruction to progression....

 

1) Name this restaurant so people can protect their children (and themselves)

2) Name this restaurant and any others with similar 'dangerous standards' so the restaurants primary obsession becomes safety and wellbeing of customers over profits. 

 

In such circumstances the defamation laws in Thailand serve only at the detriment of the customer.

We don't know how rare they are because people are not allowed to complain !

Not really, because defamation laws protect the establishment.

People who take blood-thinners maybe should avoid that unnamed restaurant.

I am guessing the the customer cannot name the Company but they serve Pizza...….🍕😆

 

I am not defending the Pizza chain but I work in the food service industry and accidents do happen, I am sure this was not intentional and as mentioned the restaurant will take care of medical cost if required.

well, given the details of the story. There are only 2 major pizza chains that are in many malls... 

I agree with you about the defamation though. This law needs to be changed when consumer safety is an issue. 

How does broken glass get into spaghetti without someone knowing it? This seems almost an impossibility. 

Does "Pizza The Hut" serve chicken?   Can asking a general question be considered as defamation in the Land of Smiles?

A tad extreme..

The chances of me eating in a "Thai Pizza Chain" in a mall are lower than me going to the moon on a bicycle so I'm happy my chances of a long life are improved, I am self protecting.

Both major pizza chains serve chicken in various formats.

When Jack In The Box in the US had an E Coli outbreak the entire country knew in a matter of days.  This may have saved lives.  I have never swallowed glass while eating and I would never want to.  This almost makes it seem like "eat out at your own risk?

if it was in a civilized country where common sense applies and laws of compensation are warranted,  he would receive a minimum of 2 Million baht. 

 

This is not a civilized place.  

I bit into glass in a piece of tiramisu at a local restaurant. They apologized profusely and didn’t charge for the meal. It happens and the cooks had no idea. It was an accident, but I don’t order the dessert there anymore. And no this was not a cheap chain. It can happen in any restaurant unnoticed by the staff. 

I was served raw chicken at one of those popular jeffers steak restaurants in a mall. Surprised i didnt get sick and would be surprised if it didnt happen alot

Sounds like the source was industrial manufacturing in nature. I would expect that glass broken on site (restaurant) would be in larger pieces.

Almost 50 years ago, I got a hamburger at a mom-and-pop store that had glass in the minced onions. I brought it back, they thanked me and threw out the onions. They had no idea how the glass got in the onions. To me it looked like pieces of a broken light bulb.

Make your own food at home (you have a Wife) and you and the rest of the family can feel safe, Why rely on third-party chefs?

His diatribe is valid and legitimate. Defamation laws clearly have their place. However, in the case of Thailand, defamation laws also serve to protect obviously guilty parties and thus keep the public in harms way. This is one of those cases.

If you cant see the difference between an E coli outbreak and a piece of glass and food you need to teach yourself about basic health knowledge.
