At midday on November 30, a KA-32 disaster relief helicopter, along with its rescue team known as “The Guardian Team,” was deployed to assist flood-stricken areas in southern Thailand. The operation is a collaborative effort between the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Royal Thai Army (RTA).

The helicopter took off from its base at Vibhavadi Rangsit Camp in Surat Thani and landed at Sainarong Camp in Hat Yai, Songkhla, at 12.45. The team will remain on standby to carry out rescue missions and provide relief to residents until the flood situation in the region is resolved.

The KA-32 helicopter and its rescue team were stationed at Vibhavadi Rangsit Camp earlier this month as part of the DDPM’s ongoing efforts to support disaster response operations in southern Thailand. Since early November, the team has been actively involved in providing aid to flood-affected communities, ensuring timely assistance to those in need and mitigating the impact of natural disasters.

This deployment underscores the government’s commitment to swiftly addressing the hardships faced by residents in flood-prone areas and delivering efficient disaster relief to communities in crisis.

The KA-32 helicopter is renowned for its versatility in rescue operations, further enhancing the region’s preparedness to respond to emergencies and protect lives.

instead of still wanting to buy the submarine, why not buy some FIRE FIGHTING helicopters?

The DDPM has six of these KA-32 helicopters currently and all are multi purpose and can be configured for either, rescue, transport, medical evacuation or firefighting .

During the dry months the helicopters were used extensively in firefighting operations in remote locations across the country. During the flooding in the north they were used for both rescue and humanitarian relief.

The DDPM had wanted to purchase four more from the 2024 budget, but that was refused.
