Bang Lamung police successfully apprehended a key suspect in a major motorcycle theft gang after a dramatic chase that ended with the suspect falling from a roof while trying to evade arrest.

Pol. Col. Navin Sinthurat, Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station, ordered Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukhvisith, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, and his team to track down a wanted individual in connection with a series of thefts in the area. The suspect, identified as Mr. Watit Phumsrithong, 23, was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Pattaya Provincial Court (Warrant No. 580/2567, dated October 31, 2024). He faces charges of “colluding to commit theft at night with two or more people in a dwelling, using a vehicle to facilitate the escape, and carrying the stolen property away.” Watit was identified as a key member of a major motorcycle theft gang operating in the Bang Lamung area.

Police investigators discovered that Mr. Watit was hiding with his girlfriend at KP House, a dormitory located at 555 Moo 5, Khao Khan Song Subdistrict, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province. When officers arrived to apprehend him, Watit realised the police were at his door. He forced it open and attempted to flee by climbing onto the rooftop parking area. As he tried to leap from the roof, he fell to the ground, injuring himself.

Despite resisting arrest and injuring two police officers during the struggle, Watit was ultimately subdued and taken into custody. He was transferred to Bang Lamung Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the gang’s activities to recover stolen property and prevent further incidents.

Well done Col. Navin.  No information received so real police work had to be done.  Would the arrest have been made had the order not been given?
