A British national finds himself in hot water after being caught on CCTV snatching jewellery from two unsuspecting tourists in Pattaya. The 31-year-old, identified only as Jordan and easily recognised due to his muscular build and distinctive tattoos, was apprehended by local authorities.

According to the Pattaya City Police, Jordan was involved in two separate thefts targeting foreign tourists. The first incident took place on the night of December 8th along Soi Buakhao, where an Iranian tourist fell victim to Jordan’s sudden attack. Not long after, he struck again, this time stealing a gold necklace valued at over 200,000 Thai Baht from an Indian tourist near Soi Yen Sabai in the Nong Prue district.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Thananon Athipansee, from the Pattaya City Police Station, led the investigative team in collaboration with the Crime Suppression Division and the Immigration Police in Chonburi. Their efforts culminated in Jordan’s arrest on December 13th at his residence in Bang Saray, Sattahip.

The incidents were clearly captured on CCTV. Footage revealed Jordan riding a motorcycle with an accomplice, both attempting to obscure their identities with face masks. The Iranian tourist, enjoying a casual evening stroll, was caught off guard when Jordan abruptly jumped off the motorcycle, snatched his necklace, and sped off with his partner waiting on the bike.

Similarly, during the second theft, the duo was seen tailing an Indian tourist, Mr. Merlin, and his friend before executing the skilful snatch near Soi Yen Sabai. Once more, the CCTV provided a clear visual record of the crime.

Upon his arrest, Jordan declined to make any statement, choosing instead to remain silent. Yet, the police are confident about the strength of their case, with the CCTV footage and clothing evidence supporting the charges against him. He now faces charges of robbery at night with the use of a vehicle, which carry penalties of up to five years in prison, a fine of 100,000 Thai Baht, or both.

Authorities are also actively pursuing Jordan’s accomplice, who remains at large. Their investigation continues as they piece together more evidence and possibly prevent any future crimes by this duo, reported Daily News.

  • 31 and snatching chains?  A complete, abject failure in life.  Deported, hopefully sooner than later.

  • I hope he is suitably punished with jail time... something he is unlikely to get back in the UK, unless the attacks could be linked to being racial!

  • As my earlier post, a spell in a jail would be appropriate first.

Agreed.  I watch a TV channel showing UK police/police interceptors.  At the end of each programme, the punishment is listed for crimes such as endangering lives by fleeing police at car speeds over 100 mph or dealing drugs.  The fines are paltry and no kind of deterrent, whilst the hoops the police have to jump through to secure a conviction stacks the odds in the criminals' favour.

Budget air travel has a lot to answer for.

Loads of low IQ males arriving here now and not leaving.

I hope Thailand makes it much harder for these types to stay longer term which I have heard is in the pipeline now that COVID is over.

As always the case, the types that thailand attracts end up making it harder for others who dont deserve it

I don't know what's wrong with our young people. Brits abroad are supposed to get in fights with recognised opposition, not steal things.

You would only easily recognise him if you knew who he was.

And is THAT a muscular build?

They jumped the gun too on the new visas. There was no need for any new visas or lifting of restrictions, as the tourists came back anyway.

Time or another clampdown on consecutive visa-free entries I hope.

And another thing... why is an Indian tourist wearing a 200k thb necklace anyway?

Not excusing the theft in any way but he must be a complete idiot as well.

They can arrest foreigners quicker than Thai ladyboys or criminals...

Note the use of the gun by the copper on the left.

They really are a bunch of cowards at heart.

That appears to be at least partly due to a completely broken judiciary. Same applies in the US. This applies most especially to white folks. People of color are locked up, if they don't have good counsel.

It is an objective and accurate descriptive statement of fact, nothing wrong with it. So, to your question, yes, relevat. Why do you ask?

So next time you might need one of these cowards what will you say then?

The Brits again. If he can't afford life in Thailand he should stay in UK. Subsequently a ban will follow. We have riffraff already enough here.

Unfortunately Thais make no difference between different "Western" people. They're all farangs.

I myself feel ashamed to explain to Thais that not all tourists come from UK. But Brits are disproportionately involved in crimes here.

Ummmmm,  because most of the criminals are foreigners? But, what did you do, time them and collect statistics for a year, you know, collect actual facts behind what you say, or did that just come spilling out of your head like a bucket of waste water?

Really?

So you think criminals should be given a chance to fight instead of readily complying to the police?

That would be your idea of bravery?
