In an unusual move, Inspector Pisan of Lamae Police Station in Thailand has formally declined consideration for promotion, citing philosophical reasoning drawn from Buddhist teachings. Pisan, currently at the lowest rank of his seniority list, expressed that his skills do not yet qualify him for higher responsibilities and highlighted his retirement plans for 2024. The officer’s choice follows a provincial directive urging performance reports for the upcoming annual promotion cycle.
