December 20, 20241 yr Cross trainer or running on treadmill? For years I walked uphill on a sharp incline on treadmill. I'm very sure this led to shin splints so now I'm trying to switch up my routine. Which is worse in terms of shin strain.... Cross trainer or running? Running is high impact but it feels like crosstrainer is more strain on shins......

December 23, 20241 yr I used to get shin splints from running on concrete roads AND shoes that weren't cushioned sufficiently to absorb the shock. Since I changed shoes and bought decent ones, the problem went away.
February 25, 20251 yr doing calves stretches helped me to get rid of shin splints in the past. It feels like it is the bone, but it it actually from overload on the muscles that are not strong enough.
