(sorn) I believe anybody caught driving a "sorned" vehicle on the road can be hung drawn and quartered Years ago when i was doing 6 months here / six months there I arranged to have my old ford granada scrapped , unfortunately the scrap man failed to send off the the log book declaring that the car was scrapped , Then unbeknown to me I was fined in my absence by the dvla for not taxing it, obviously as I was unaware I didn't pay the fine and upon my return I discovered I had a county court judgement (ccj) against me for non payment of fine So I paid what was by then a grossly inflated fine , cant remember how much exactly , but I remember I had to pay a further £50 to get the ccj removed from my record .... My name must still have gone onto some sort of debtors list, as for a while I was inundated with junk mail offering me credit cards with outrageous interest rates, that would apparently help to rebuild my damaged credit history The days of scribbling "tax in post" or displaying a guinness bottle label in place of a tax disc are sadly long gone And if you don't insure a car for 2 years then that's the end of any no claims bonus you spent years accruing All part of the "benefits" of living in the 21st century and to think there are some crying for Thailand to be dragged into it
