Arrogant foreigners demand that they should have the right to purchase land in Thailand. It is a colonial attitude that would allow the dispossession of Thai people of their birthright and would create an inability of Thai people to access affordable housing. That is what you demand. Many western nations allowed this and now locals are unable to find affordable hosuing. Look at what happened in London with Gulf Arabs and Russians who purchased large numbers of residential buildings and homes forcing values up and out of the reach of UK nationals. Canada is another illustration. Vancouver saw a large portion of its affordable housing disappear as Chinese absenteee speculators/investors moved in. The greater Toronto area has millions of Indians who have relocated and who have removed affordable housing from the local market. In Thailand, comparatively wealthy foreigners would swoop in and speculate on residential properties. That's what your demand would give. What does that have to do with one person's relatively small fortune? You carry on as if she was responsible for economic characteristics which have been part of the nation for centuries. You call the Thai laws on ownership out dated, yet responsible people disagree and understand why there must be restrictions. Land speculators would swarm Thailand. You would probably be one of the people bemoaning the arrival of such people as condos switched to Air BnB and affordable long term residences were priced out of the reach of elderly Europeans. No more Pattaya for UK and European pensioners. Thais are most certainly taxed on expensive foreign goods. Yes, some people try to get around the import duties, but you know what? They eventually get caught. It may take some time, but there is always someone who will snitch and whenever the circumstances are conducive, a knife finds its way to the back of the duty evader. Just ask Big Joke. The super rich do not keep the population poor, the Thai people do it themselves. Many ethnic groups have had long term family investment strategies where grandparents and parents sacrifice for their children . It is demonstrated by the old immigrant populations of North America and Australia. Most of the immigrants worked their butts off so that their kids would have a better life. The kids were sent to professional schools, and families pooled money to purchase homes etc. Homeland populations rarely show this characteristic. Thailand culture treats children as a retirement strategy from whom older people bleed dry to everyone's detriment. Wealthy Thai families are characterized by their investment in their families.Unlike much of the population of Thailand, they play the long game. What do you know about her. work history? Are you jealous? Did you obtain a master diploma in the UK as she did? She worked at the family real estate group managing multiple property developments and projects. Have you ever been an executive officer of a hospitality group as she was? No one has ever criticized her work performance, not even under the cover of the malicious Thai gossip websites. She was always described as a conscientious worker who took her responsibilities seriously and was an integral part of guiding the hotel group's expansion. She has certainly been more successful and active than the typical collection of foreign detractors. It is incredibly arrogant and idiotic for so many semi illiterate ne'er do wells to criticize the woman, not because of anything she has done wrong, but for the simple fact that she is beautiful, educated and wealthy. She is the type of woman they could never even meet because the best that they can hope for is some multi tattooed tramp who works as a hooker in a beer bar. -

Where to travel out of country for 2 days?
As this year's trip is approaching, all information I find valuable, thanks all. Especially about Taiwan. I liked Vietnam last year a lot so it's seducing me, but let's see, many unexplored places waiting. -
