Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
Complete and absolute rubbish based on your incapacity for an intelligent thought. What about native speakers with an education degree? How about those with an ordinary degree and a CELTA (my guess is you don't know what a CELTA is)? What about an ordinary degree, a diploma of teaching in a 2nd or other language and a CELTA? An education degree and a diploma in teaching in a 2nd or other language? Masters in linguistics on top of an education degree? A teacher that teaches a 2nd or other language in no way needs to know another language. They need to know about language acquisition and how to teach it. You really just keep showing your complete lack of understanding. Of course there are some who can be well qualified and be bad teachers just as there can be some who have little or no education in the profession but can still be good teachers. Sure Thailand's full of useless farang teachers with dodgy degrees but to say "Most native speakers are terrible English teachers" is simply your opinion. -

Thailand May Ease Overseas Income Tax Rules Amid Global Changes
But in every instance the Tax due was reported as zero or negligible, so why not? They just followed the rules. If my tax office was in Silom I'd do the same. But I live in Nakhon nowhere and I doubt anyone here knows about RD 743. -

The high price of peace in Europe.
(Preliminary comment for posters who may not be aware of it. The EU has no defense prerogative, according to the treaties signed) Spending more is necessary, but it's not the main issue. Currently, the aggregated budget of European countries is far from being ridiculous. In PPP it's the equivalent of the current Russian military budget, which is at his maximum, and in nominal value it's 3 times higher than Russia. The problem is the coordination and optimisation at the European level. Each country spends to defend its own country, not to defend the whole of Europe. And they are far from being able to agree on a common project. For example, if Spain increases its spending to better protect its borders, it will have no impact on defending Europe from an invasion coming from Russia. A coordinated military spending would mean that countries such as Spain, France or UK would spend money to improve the protection of Finland, the Baltic States or Poland. There is probably a lot of unnecessary duplicated spending in the different countries, while there is not enough coordinated spending for common purposes. For example, European countries don't have enough logistical means without the U.S.. it can only be solved by a common European logistical force project. It's the same for Strategic stocks. Strategic stocks of weapons and equipment must be optimised and managed at the European level. Not to mention the lack of industrial policy to build an independent base of European production of weapons and equipment. Currently, European countries are unable to agree on a common project. At best, there may be a possibility of a few countries agreeing on some common projects, for a start. -

Is It Just Me, Or Are Thai Staff Getting Ruder By The Day?
It's easy when your self-esteem is attached to your perception of Thailand, and your mind literally won't allow you find a single thing wrong with the place. Unfortunately, this also means that you have to attack anyone who does make any negative observations. -
