A crash occurred on the Phahonyothin Road in Kamphaeng Phet’s Khlong Khlung district on the night of January 11, leaving two parents dead and their three-year-old daughter critically injured.

The incident took place at kilometre 410 (Asian Highway) near Ban Khlong Nam Yen Nuea. Police Lieutenant Colonel Udom Muangma, an investigator from Khlong Khlung Police Station, and rescue workers from Sawang Kamphaeng Phet Rescue Foundation responded to the scene.

A silver Honda car had collided with a lorry, and the impact crushed the car beneath the lorry’s front wheels, leaving it completely wrecked. Three people, a man, a woman, and a young girl, were trapped inside the car. Initial checks revealed that the man and woman had died from the impact, while the three-year-old girl, identified as Miss Kanyarat, was found clinging to life in her mother’s arms.

Due to the weight of the lorry and the precarious position of the car, rescue teams had to carefully use cranes and hydraulic cutting equipment to extract the victims. After two hours of efforts, they managed to pull the child from the wreckage and rush her to Khlong Khlung Hospital. Tragically, the parents, identified as Mr. Nattawut, 34, and Miss Fuengfa, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the Honda car driver appeared to lose control and swerve erratically before crossing the median and crashing head-on into the lorry traveling in the opposite direction. Dashcam footage from a pickup truck following the car showed the car weaving before the collision occurred.

A local garage owner near the scene, Mrs. Waraporn, 47, confirmed hearing a loud crash and rushing outside to see the lorry on top of the wrecked car. Although her garage’s CCTV cameras captured the incident, she was unable to access the footage as her husband, who has the password, was away.

According to the family of the deceased, the couple had taken their daughter out to a local shopping mall earlier that evening to celebrate Children’s Day.

The lorry driver, who sustained leg injuries, is currently being treated at Khlong Khlung Hospital. Authorities plan to question him further as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the severely injured child has been transferred to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital for urgent treatment.

How incredibly sad.  And on Children's day, too.  I wonder what the little girl's life will be like now.

Somewhat different than planned.

Geeeeez. That driver was going FAST! Not much left of that car.

A tragedy and probably very avoidable if the driver slowed down. 🙏
