I posted the video because he read the Thai Law.

He read only part of the law. He cherry picked a small part.  Then he then deliberately ???? ignored other salient parts of the Thai tax code.

Why?  Why?  Why ignore such?

Why would that youtube blogger NOT quote other salient parts of the Thai tax code that others on this forum have pointed out?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I think the ONLY logical reason why he keeps reporting this totally misleading scaremongering Crap across multiple threads is to get his post count up!

Says someone who has more posts than me, and keeps posting troll posts and no content.  :cheesy:

I have no idea.

I know what I heard.  It appeared to me he read it word for word, albeit, not the whole Act, of course, or other relevant sections.

I posted it because it may be of interest to others.

I have posted my strategy.  Others will have to navigate their own way through this mine field.

I would suggest that many be weary of "The Somchai Shuffle."

Yes, because it's my opinion.  I am posting for myself.

This guy read the Thai law.  That's not an opinion, is it?

It's YOUR opinion discussing this subject is scaremongering, but that's just opinion.

Nobody in their right mind would pay for his dangerous rubbish!

Telling people to abide by Thai tax law is not "dangerous" but you telling them not to worry, do nothing, it will all go away is  "dangerous."  Too funny.  :cheesy:

About 10 posts now with no content from you.

Where have I told any one to abide by Thai tax law or anything else?

The only posts I make on tax threads are to remind you of the potential damage your posts can cause.  I am NOT a tax authority (unlike your pretentious posts) and therefore have not/will not post on that subject!

If this comment should come true then it's the end for me and I do mean the end, I have lived here happily for the last 17 years, now all of a sudden living here is full of fear, I'm sure I am not alone, I do have the 800k, I do have  65k per month but only just because of the exchange rate, I have small savings, I can not produce money out of thin air.

Some things to bear in mind. In 2008 the financial requirement was doubled to 800k. This came on the back of the weakening of the Thai baht over the preceding years. Foreign currency inflows had dropped considerably. In 2005 a rate of over 74 baht to the GBP. In the summer of 2008, a rate of up to 66 baht dropping to just over 50 at the end of that year. I would guess that the government took those factors and a degree of inflation in their decision to raise the bar, HOWEVER, existing

retirees were grandfathered in and didnt have to meet the the new requirement. Maybe the same again.

I would also suggest that the income you have puts you in a stronger position than many others.

Can I worry anymore than I do already? Reading the comments within this thread, yes I can!!

Anxiety and depression go hand in hand. As others have said, you have nothing to worry about. Go with the flow

Riding on sidewalks rarely makes the news, but Yumthai says this tax policy will be just like riding on a sidewalk, nothing will happen to you for breaking Thailand's tax laws.

Probably nothing and you should know better as you are a perfect example: you've paid for years to illegally get a stamp in your passport allowing you to stay in Thailand. This is surely much riskier than dodging TRD because Thai Immigration rules are rather efficiently enforced. Has something happened to you? Nope.

I don't care what guys on youtube say, or Somchai at the TRD says.

I'll be getting an agent to file, and then rest easy.

Unfortunately, it appears many are not getting the correct advice from Somchai.

If only it was that simple.  We could all remit say, 3 million baht for living expenses and just simply say to Somchai, "It's not assessable."

Ohhhh, we are all going to need it.

There will be twists, turns, tweaks, and back flips.  They will make a lot of it up on the fly.  Also, this tax policy will evolve.  2025 is just the start.

They know they are onto a new revenue stream with this money spinner, and I just can't see it being as easy as saying, "My remittances are non assessable."  I have a feeling they are going to want proof of source.

Well you said it again....I would say its time for you to join Mike Lister on the MIA list......

If you're the messenger I have to ask "Who sent you and who do you work for?"

Did God send you a message to spread amongst the people?  Your constant posting questions your intent.

Thailand has thousands of Thai tax residents that are foreigners.  The message is they want to tax you.  I think this is pretty clear to all.  By all means, everyone should try to minimize their tax, but ignore the message at your own peril.

Members spreading "messages" like, "It will never happen because they would have to hire 5000 more TRD staff" are simply laughable, yet, some actually believe it.  Do they really believe it, or just really need to believe it.  Who knows?

Times are changing.

Mike is off on a rekkie, checking out neighboring countries as a place to live for 6 months, in order to escape being a Thai tax resident.

Yes, I really believe it and there is no way I will apply for a Thai tax id or report my overseas income. Only a fool would do that.

Yes, and it's possible my tax agent may be able to "negotiate" my tax bill.  TiT.

Exactly why they will link it to immigration in the future.

Canada's calling. Word on the street is that Trudeau will drop some helicopter money before he leaves.

Farang taxpayer 🤣 can stay in Thailand, file and watch their home currency being devaluated.

I'll be collecting free money and probably visit Thailand every 6 months.

Thanx for the memories 😂🤣

What do you think the Thai government will do to force you to file?

I, and some others, have suggested a certificate from the TRD will be needed at extension time.  It's so easy for them to do this.

You do know that Thai banks report account details.

I can't see you getting a free pass.  If they were to give you a free pass, they would have to give us all a free pass.

TRD can see remittances and they might do some audits of foreigners with large and/or unusual remittance pattetns.

They won't have the bandwidth to audit everone with remittances.

Wow.  Check out "The Somchai Shuffle" in Phuket.  He got referred to immigration about his possible tax liability. The chaos continues.

Note:  His friend was told by Phuket Immigration in December he will need tax documents for next year's extension.  (2025)

This guy documents "The Somchai Shuffle."  Obviously, he can not film inside government buildings, but he films outside, and give his account of the meetings that just took place.

He also sends in his Thai partner to cross reference the information given to him earlier at immigration.

He mentions AN, and the information others have posted.

The video is only 4 days old.

Interesting times ahead.

Yes it contradicts your scaremongering and conspiracy theories, as it is clearly mentioned in the video that there is NO mention from immigration or IRS that a tax return will be needed.

At the beginning of the video is mentioned that is friend was told by a lone IO, who just voiced his OWN opinion.

Yes!

He has been advised by many posters, including myself, on numerous occasions on many threads that his posts are at best misleading and scaremongering at at worst dangerous but he continues with his posts!

KhunHeineken has nothing to backup his fear mongering but he sure does like to repeat it over and over and over page after page after page...
