The family will start a gofundme to pay the growing hospital bills to get him home for free treatment on the NHS. 1

It is more likely something far more sinister and far more serious took place. People disappearing is never a good thing, but when they aren't heard from for quite some time afterwards, that's a sign that something serious is going on or something serious has already taken place. Neither of which is a what any family wants to hear about their loved ones. I'm not assuming he disappeared with some girl, maybe he disapppeared with some guy. 3
Dont confuse me Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Did he meet up with the 'friend' has the friend been approached/come forward with any information? I find it hard to accept that the wife/member of his family will not have details of the 'friend' 10 days without contact is a bit concerning.

Iron Tongue Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 1 hour ago, PomPolo said: Absolutely especially on his sons birthday, what possible reason could someone want to go to Bangkok alone when they are married with a kid on their sons birthday, firstly I'm surprised his wife even let him, and even more that he wanted to go. Abandoned Mansion Bar & Restaurant on is basically opposite Soi Cowboy that is where I would start, plenty of plod down there at night and enough CCTV I'd be surprised if they didn't get a hit. Where did you get that he has a wife? From their apparent relationship, she's just his Baby Mama.

impulse Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Honest question... Would the cops even try to find the guy if he's an adult and (obviously) hasn't authorized anyone to release his information? If my family member went missing in Thailand, what should be my first phone call? US Embassy, Thai cops, Thai Immigration? Unless he is staying in a private residence (or that tragic scenario), they should be able to track him by TM30. (Assuming he's still in Thailand). But would they? Would the British Consulate even get involved? Would they be allowed to release his info? I'd sure hate to rat the guy out and find out that the people looking for him are not who they claim to be. 1
shackleton Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Probably to busy enjoying himself in Bangkok like most guys who come to Thailand hopefully will Contact his family in the UK end speculation of any problems He has encountered

Yes the do investigate, if the family lodges a formal missing persons report - seems odd that the partner claims to have reported direct to the RTP though, as she is in the UK. Normal process is for your family to report to local police (ie: she would report in the UK) then they pass it into Interpol, which pushes it into the RTP system. If requested by the family the Embassy could ask for update from RTP, but consular staff aren't law enforcement and don't have any remit to conduct searches in Thailand. There's always a chance he's been arrested or hospitalised and has withheld permission for his family to be advised of his situation. That certainly happens, but in most cases the Thai media eventually gets hold of the information and the families find out anyway. 1
