Thai Police Foil Scammers, Rescue Student from Gold Heist

In a dramatic rescue operation, the Royal Thai Police saved a 21-year-old student, Jidapha, from a clever call center scam in Bangkok. Con artists managed to trick her into handing over her precious gold and convinced her to hide in a hotel, leaving her parents anxiously worried.

 

The ordeal began when her father, Chan, reported her missing on Wednesday after she disappeared from their Bang Khae home. She left with her jewelry: a necklace weighing 3 baht and a ring of 3.75 grams, pretending to run errands. When Chan couldn’t reach her and noticed her borrowing money, alarm bells rang, suspecting she was conned by a scam gang.

 

Police Colonel Pramote led the swift investigation, with the Crime Suppression Division assisting. They tracked her down at the Diamond Hotel in Phasi Charoen using CCTV footage.

 

Jidapha revealed the frightening scam: a call claiming to be from AIS, accusing her of serious crimes and gambling. A fake police officer demanded her parents' bank details. When they refused, the scammers pressured her to pay 100,000 baht to avoid legal trouble. She sold her gold, stayed at a hotel, and was instructed to link her bank account to a trading app.

 

 

Thankfully, police intervened before any money was transferred. Jidapha reunited with her parents, who were more relieved about her safety than the lost gold. Chan praised the police for their quick response.

 

Police Colonel Pramote highlighted the success due to effective tracking and technical skills, warning the public about scams exploiting fear. He emphasized, "No legitimate agency will request financial transactions via phone."

How stupid are people to Fall for Cr@p like this . 

Probably same people who go to Loan. Sharks and getting Ripped off.
