Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'm looking for a business that has a battery spot welder, to make a battery pack.
I'm located in Pattaya, so the closer to home the better

Posted

Some branches of Amorn used to re-cell packs for tools, PCs etc.

Worth talking to your local branch 🙂

Failing that there are quite a few basic ones on Lazada etc. if you only need a few welds.

Thanks I checked with them already.

Amorn Pattaya look more like a candy shop the last few years, and even many years ago they directed me to a shop in Naklua for a simialr job. That shop today said their spot welder is in heaven now.

I called Amorn SriRacha, and they said they had no such machine.

Shame, it was worth a shot 😞

Are the cells you need available with pre-welded tags so you can solder safely?? If you are using 32650s or bigger they are also available with M4 screw terminals 🙂

Or, there are sellers on Lazada who will build packs to your specifications.

Battery spot welders are freely available on both Lazada and AliExpress. Without a power supply they are under ฿300 with an integrated battery they run from about ฿500 to ฿900.  The connection metal tape is also easy to find, along with the required Kapton tape

I would not advise soldering as the heat required can easily do nasty things to the batteries or charging circuits

I want to solder 3 Lifepo4 18650 batteries in line, but I can find only these, with the flat had head. Those with the raised head are only available in LI-PO or LI-ION version. Is it possible to solder them in line?

Do you have experience with a credible seller of kapton tape, as I can see from the reviews of some listings that what they sell isn't heat-resistant at all, so fake kapton.

Other reviews are as usual, very good product - not damaged, but haven't tested yet,😄

What would be the use of the metal tape in my case? My application is for an electric airsoft gun, so will have to use thick wires for connection.

But I don't understand how it gets powered, as there is no mention of it in the listing

I don’t do Shopee however you can see the power jack so you need a power supply to power it. Better to uses a self powered version.

The standard is to have them side by side, it is virtually impossible to solder or weld end to end directly. You would have to weld on tags then solder/weld the tags (very Heath Robinson) to each other. For inline use just get batteries that aren’t flat, no welding required.

It is for connecting the batteries to each other.

No you don’t you will get a far better connection with tape along with better electrical power between batteries, just use thicker tape. This is how to construct a battery pack.

Don’t buy cheap, you won’t get fake

because the 18650 batteries I find online are 15 to 30 baht. Guess that crap will last 24 hours if I'm lucky

Yes I saw that, but there are power supplies with all different specs, and I see in the listing a mention of 800A, which is unrealistic in my opinion.

This is what I want to achieve, 3 cell pack, and as you can see there is a connector at the front. You can't tape a connector .

Do you have a link for that battery, and is it a LifePo4, as I can't find any LifePo4 on AliExpress? It is a flat head as well

Your search terms are probably wrong, it took me about 5 seconds, these are button top, flattop are equally easy to findIMG_2137.jpeg.6bdc902c8baa59a928822f3ffb7a8e8e.jpeg

You misunderstand the meaning of tape. It is not adhesive tape. See the above video. It is metal tape that you weld.

you would weld on metal tape that you can then solder to.

trying to solder directly onto a battery without doing damage due to overheating is a skill that I haven’t attempted and may not be achievable without serious equipment.

Soldering onto tape is the way virtually all home battery packs are made.

How about providing a link, instead of posting images only?

No point really, as they were only examples of the fact that the items you want are easily available. If you actually want to order them then you have to do a bit more research to find the exact configurations of the batteries you want.

My experience is that once I know of the availability of a product I can refine the search. I don’t expect others to do my work because only know exactly what I want.

But as you seem to be challenged in the search terms, the rocket science I used was (lifepo4 18650). Good enough?

So just an example that "something" is available on Ali. Not really helpful at all then

Anyone who has a positive experience with ordering this type of battery from Ali, or anywhere else?  LiFePO4 18650 3.2V 1800mah

You order 2 on Ali they cost 180 baht a piece, but if you order more they are also 60 baht batteries, similar to Shopee or Lazada, so why would they be better?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005364329204.html?

Didn’t you notice that it was free shipping? So the shipping is included in the price and the shipping cost is virtually the same for 2 as for 10

And why restrict yourself to 1800 mAh? There are believable capacities of 350mAh available.

Yes free shipping, delivery 26 April, no tracking available. Sure gonna order that.

But you can select paid shipping, which is 66 bht regardless if you order 2 or 30 pieces, and see the price drop.

What would I do with a 350mAH battery. I guess you mean 3500mAH, and if so, why not offer a link?

Every order I have placed, from a 58 baht item and up to thousands of baht has had a tracking number, many were free shipping, probably 40+ items this year. So while it is certainly possible that there are items shipped without tracking I’ve not seen any for over a year, if that and probably a couple of hundred items ordered. I have never had an order go missing.

You are correct 3,500mAh

There are so many possibilities of LiFePO4 18650s it is pointless. I know of at least 5 different physical configurations so if you multiply those by the possible maximum charge along with the number of brands etc you are probably looking at well over 100 possibilities so it’s totally pointless to give links that are unlikely to assist

You must be special, because free shipping on Ali is always without tracking.

Lifepo4 18650 batteries do not exist in 3500mAH capacity, Li-ion has that capacity.

Please no need for any more unhelpful posts

it would be good if you actually did research and didn’t blindly neysay proven facts

many of my orders have free shipping. Virtually all of them (I won’t say all because there maybe an exception) have tracking.

This is an example of an order with free shipping and tracking that is currently on the way

I found those welders on Lazada, but they can weld maximum 0.25mm nickel, maybe even 0.20mm.

Do you reckon that is thick enough, as I have no idea what current such an airsoft electric gun pulls.?

If you want a more powerful unit they are available at under ฿1,000 they will go up to 0.35mm the tape is available between 4mm and 20mm and there is nothing stopping you from welding 2 strips on top of each other

Since you are still so unhelpful, that actually resembles trolling, by refusing to post a link, I found them through Google images.

Probably 20 sources for the exact same item, and they are not capable of 0.35mm. They are 0.20mm maximum.

And I have read many reviews of similar devices, and they work for 3 welds, then most of them die.
