Cheap Car Rental in Chiang Mai

My boy has an internship in Chiang Mai for about a month starting in March. 

 

He needs to rent a car. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks. I was hoping to buy something before he goes. The hospital has some loaner bikes, but my wife is dead set against him riding a motorbike. 

 

Do they have uber, grab-taxi or some-such up there?

Grab, Bolt, Maxim, songthaews, buses and tuk tuks.

I live in Bangkok, and I am asking about Chiang Mai in particular, but thanks for your helpful responce.

Every major city now has multiple rideshare and cheaper than Bangkok. Chiang Mai is very cheap for Bolt and Maxim. Regular songthaews in Chiang Mai too.
