people who work hard a 10-12 hour day and pay taxes must feel agrieved that BGs pay no taxes.

so what do you reckon ? they get away with big incomes and pay no income tax .

should they donate to the nations coffers ?

If they had to start paying tax on their earnings they would most certainly increase their prices to cover this... :o

Surely this would be more of a headache for the Government anyway... how can you keep tabs on how many customers and what she earns from them, couldn't be done !

I don't know the stats, but I'm guessing that the Thai government makes most of its revenue not from personal income tax, but from foreign exchange, agriculture

exports, taxes paid by foreign corporations in Thailand and other assorted 'fees'

for services rendered. From my experience talking with professional Thais, most average Thais working as vendors, taxi drivers, guides, ect. are not part of the tax system. A Thai accountant told me that most of her clients come to her to find ways to avoid paying tax. Thais hate paying tax as much as anybody else and maybe more so.

Most B/G's only earn 2000 -3000 baht/month so probably wouldnt qualify to pay tax......and we all know being "on the batter" is illegal here in Thailand, so cant be taxable! :o

thats just their bar pay but with monthly extras from" shortime and allnight "it must be very substantial , say for example a patpong girl , who asks 2000 shortime and up . could be 3-5000 for an allnight session .

certainly comparable monthly takehome pay with a civil servant .

thais would have to admit to having prostitution going on and thats a tough call for them to do !!!!

Bargirls,as much as I sometimes enjoy talking and playing pool with them are after all prostitutes. Since prostitution is illegal in Thailand, can they be expected to pay income tax. How can you tax sin?

Also how can they be audited? Leave the bar girls alone, after all a lot of their earnings end up in family support systems back home in Isaan. Go after the rich bastards running the country and doing corrupt deals. Guaranteed Khun Thaksin and his cronies don't pay their fair share.

Yes they should pay their dues.

If they earn money/receive money and if it is above any tax free threshhold of course they should pay.

And whats legal got to do with it?

Al Capone was not convicted for being a bootlegger, he was convicted and put away for tax evasion.

And in many countries prostitution is illegal yet still taxed.

If they called on the BG's to pay tax in Thailand it would just result in the tax collectors getting a lot of freebies (and their wives a good nights sleep) :o

I left Canada because the government taxes everything from birth to death plus VAT. Also the western countries have many social services but Thailand does not.

I can imagine a bar girl telling a guy that "It's B1000 for short time plus 5% service tax plus 7% VAT, would you like a receipt ?"

I also think it would be next to impossible to prove how much a girl makes on the game if she's a freelancer. Different in the bars where there's bar fines and some sort of record.

Just because the bar has been paid for that night it does not mean that she is making any extra money !

these are the sort of prices you can hear punters being quoted in the Kings bars , and some guys do pay these prices , also in the street of jap bars 5000 is the norm. Of course no sensible guy would pay these prices but many suckers do.

i have spoken to farangs who have shelled out 5000 for a patpong girl for an allnighter !
