British Tourist Knocked Out by Pattaya Club Bouncer

In a troubling incident on Pattaya's bustling Walking Street, a security guard at a popular nightclub felled a British tourist with a single punch. The altercation occurred around 11:30 p.m., leaving the 62-year-old tourist unconscious and bleeding on the pavement after hitting his head.

The incident began when the tourist approached the guard, seemingly intent on confrontation. Video footage shows the guard backing away before the tourist attempted to push him. In response, the guard delivered a forceful right hook that knocked the tourist unconscious.

Volunteers quickly provided first aid to the injured man before he was transported to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. After the punch, the security guard promptly disappeared into the crowd.

Witnesses reported that the tourist had initiated the conflict, leading to the guard stepping aside and removing his uniform before the physical altercation ensued.

This latest incident raises concerns as it follows recent measures by the local authorities to increase tourism safety. Despite a recent meeting on 17 February between Pattaya's tourist police and regional law enforcement to enhance safety protocols, violent incidents involving security staff continue to surface.

Earlier cases include a 1st January assault where several club guards attacked a bartender, and a 27th December incident involving the assault of a Chinese businessman by multiple guards. Further back, on 24th May, British tourists were also attacked by club security, sustaining various injuries.

Efforts from the police to manage information regarding these incidents have been noted, potentially in an attempt to preserve the area's reputation, reported Channel 7 News.

  • Seems to me, the he got what he deserved. Why in the world would somebody push on a security guard?

  • Sounds like the Brit thought he was a tough guy and confronted the guard. Seems the guard responded appropriately in defense and punched his lights out.  Well deserved,  hopefully a good lesson f

This is nothing short of attempted murder.

Most of these security guards are ex/current gang members and pure thugs...

Scumbags.

Seems the guard responded appropriately in defense and punched his lights out.  Well deserved,  hopefully a good lesson for other idiots out there.

In Thailand?  With a Thai attacking a foreigner?  More like a couple of years then out and back in the same job like nothing happened.  🙄

But made the effort to take off his "security uniform" first?

It rather suggests that the guard made a premeditated attack, perhaps the inevitable "loss of face".

No matter, the Pattaya Constabulary will be unable to find him - to everyone's surprise!

You don't get a free pass to act aggressive and confrontational just because you are old.

Sounds like a 62 year old still wanting to play Rambo.

Guess he found out.

Sounds like an attack after a push.

Not very professional of the so called security guard.

Need some more info on this.

Gofundme I guess.

Bet he was ex-special forces who was as sober as a judge who only saw a slightly built Thai guy who needed a lesson in who not to mess with, no doubt when he gets out of hospital he'll have a good story of the Thai guy just got a lucky punch in.

Remember people no matter how hard you think you are there is always someone that's harder than you.

The info is there but you ignore it: "Witnesses reported that the tourist had initiated the conflict, leading to the guard stepping aside and removing his uniform before the physical altercation ensued."

62-year-old, pissed up just before midnight, aggressive towards bouncers in a volatile red light district.

What could possibly go wrong?

My UK brother in law once told me many of these types are former football hooligans and they get bombed on Thai whisky and forget their age and the fact that the mob they used hang with isn't there.
