flexomike Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Went to Bangkok Bank today, to take out my monthly transfer. US Social Security money which is routed through the NY Bank. Since 2016 it has always shown as FTT, today the code showed up as TPP, had the banker call Bangkok to see what is up with this. Apparently they are changing over to TPP, hope Immigration is made aware of this. I use the monthly method.
bamnutsak Posted March 6 Posted March 6 You could ask Bangkok Bank for a copy of the Credit Advice Receipt, which should show the origin of the funds. These are free, and some say they receive these via email. After your twelfth transfer, you can ask Bangkok Bank (foreign remittance desk) for a Credit Advice Summary document ( 100 baht) which lists all 12 qualifying foreign transfers, and is addressed to Immigration and festooned with garuda stamps and signatures. You can find samples of both of these by searching this site Google bangkok bank credit advice receipt site: aseannow.com 1

The new code for them was a little confusing, no one new anything about it had to contact the main office in Bangkok to get info. Strange that the sms I got says Prompt Pay, I don't use prompt pay.
RogerL Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I saw the same change from FTT code to TPP code on a friends VA compensation and SS compensation deposits each in a separate bank account at different branches of Bangkok Bank here in Chiang Mai. Bangkok Bank seems to be saying this change was caused by a change made by US Treasury funds disbursement group. Both changes showed up for first time on March 3rd transfers into the accounts. I did a Wise transfer to one of the accounts on same day using code for funds being used in Thailand for living expense. That went through as a FTT transaction. Chiang Mai Immigration says they will not accept a TPP transaction for the 65,000 Baht per month visa extension. 1

What you show in the picture is an explanation from Bangkok Bank (stamped and signed) that the code for the transfer has changed. Even though I would expect that immigration understands that, you might better take this and the updated bank book and ask beforehand. Might save you extra effort for additional documents. I assume you have a (yearly) confirmation of your payment in English language? Would always take this with me to immigration. 1

I always get a yearly statement, I asked the bank to start sending me credit advices for each transfer, they talked to the main office in Bangkok and said they could do monthly email credit advices, still have not received the one for March but it has only been three working days, will wait for one week and go back in if I have not received one.
Baba Naba Posted Wednesday at 05:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:59 AM SOaB! Looks like all Federal checks coming here have switched to TPP! I just found out the my VA disability check now comes in marked as TPP and Immigration will accept nothing except FTT! Come to find out, Immigration will waiver this for 15k! Freaking crooks will make millions! FYI it is not the Thai banks doing this. They have nothing to do with the code or how your deposits show up here. That's from the sender. So I assume Uncle Sam did something to screw up all Federal pensioners.... 🥺😧 1

Have to go to your bank to set this up.

It seems like she is a "one trick pony". BUT she did say that she could get me a waiver for 15k! WTF is that all about? Is she and her immigration buddies just trying to make more money off of me?

Sounds like colussion between your Immigration office and the agent. Everything I have read in the past is that Immigration accepts credit advises. 1

Everything I have read in the past is that Immigration accepts credit advises. I just sent an email to this agency, being they are the ones who cause this mess, and asked them what they suggest. I am curious to see what they say. I also asked if I am the only one that has contacted them. But they, the Federal Disbursement Services, are the ones who provide payment services for more than 250+ federal agencies. Your federal income tax refunds; Social Security benefits; Supplemental Security income; Railroad Retirement Board benefits; veteran's pay, pension, and education benefits all come from the Federal Disbursement Services. Payments to federal workers, vendors, and grantees also come from the Federal Disbursement Services. https://fiscal.treasury.gov/fds/ Here is their email address: payments(at)fiscal.treasury.gov 1
Baba Naba Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I wrote Bangkok Bank inquiring about this. Here is the letter they sent back... Dear Baba Naba, Thank you for contacting Bangkok Bank. In response to your email, please be informed that the process for receiving funds from the United States via Bangkok Bank New York Branch has been updated. Funds will now be received through the API Gateway, enabling customers to receive funds quickly and cost-effectively. This new channel, the Application Program Interface (API Gateway), is applicable for funds transfers of less than 1 million baht and is effective immediately. Deposited Money: You will not receive SMS Remittance Alerts for funds received through the API Gateway. It is recommended to subscribe to Email Credit Advice instead. In your passbook, the code “TPP” (PromptPay Transfer/Top Up eWallet) will be displayed instead of “FTT” (Foreign T/T). If you have applied for the Email Credit Advice service, the Credit Advice document will be sent automatically on the day the funds are received. If you have not applied for the Email Credit Advice service, you can bring your valid passport and passbook to the branch where you applied for the Direct Deposit service to fill out an application form. This will allow you to receive credit advice as proof of an International Transfer Receipt on the same day the funds are credited to your account. We acknowledge that the current circumstances may not align with your expectations, and we extend our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Should you require any further assistance, please let us know. You can also contact our phone banking center at 1333 (for domestic) or (66)26455555 (for overseas) during all hours to acquire more information. Faithfully yours, Bualuang Phone Bangkok Bank Public Company limited I also wrote Immigration, let's see what they have to say....
