Cheap airfares

Easy visas with no checks on who is arriving/staying long term

Legalisation of cannabis, and availability of other drugs e.g. yaba

Weak law enforcement

Influencers promoting Thailand as a dream on a budget

Declining economies and standards of living in the West in particular the UK
