An incident involving a 42-year-old luxury car driver, known as A, and a 14-year-old motorcyclist has stirred public debate in Phak Hai district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The driver admitted to slapping the teenager following a road mishap.

The teenager, on his way to a convenience store, unintentionally cut off the driver's luxury vehicle while making a turn. In response, A pursued the boy and slapped him, despite the motorcyclist's immediate apology. The driver also threatened the teen, touting his local influence.

The altercation, captured in a video that quickly circulated online, prompted strong reactions. In the aftermath, A reached out to the family, offering an apology and 10,000 baht (US$295) as compensation. Yet, the driver's hints at having influential connections left the motorcyclist's family feeling uneasy.

To address the matter, a meeting was convened at Phak Hai Police Station with mediation led by Police Colonel Dusadee Hirunrat. During the discussion, A claimed provocation by the teenager sticking out his tongue, which the boy and his family denied, urging A to provide evidence.

With the media asked to leave for privacy, the two parties reconciled after about 15 minutes of talks. The resolution involved mutual apologies, with A embracing the teenager and offering an apology to his family. The teenager also reiterated his apology, bringing the tense situation to a peaceful conclusion, reported The Thaiger.

I could understand the driver's reaction.

However, a bit more self control would have been advised.
