Police Lieutenant Found Dead at Home, Leaving Farewell Message

A police lieutenant, just two years away from retirement, was found dead at his home in In Buri District, Sing Buri Province, in an apparent suicide. A farewell message he left on social media before his death has left colleagues and loved ones in shock.

 

At 7:30 on 14 March, local police were alerted to the incident and responded to the scene along with medical examiners from In Buri Hospital and emergency personnel from the Sing Buri Rescue Foundation.

 

The deceased, identified as Lieutenant Boontan, 58, a Deputy Inspector at In Buri Police Station, was found lying face down on the ground under a mango tree outside his home in Chi Nam Rai Subdistrict. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts. A 9mm Sig Sauer handgun was found near his feet, and two bottles of drinking water were placed on a nearby marble table.

 

Medical examiners confirmed that he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the left temple, with no signs of foul play.

 

Colleagues revealed that Lieutenant Boontan had been battling depression for some time and had been taking medication regularly. Prior to his death, he posted a farewell message on his personal Facebook account, stating:

 

“Mother, brother, friends, and colleagues—goodbye. I am exhausted.”

 

A fellow officer shared that he had received an urgent call from the village headman, asking him to intervene as Lieutenant Boontan had expressed suicidal intentions. He immediately rushed to the scene on his motorbike, but tragically arrived too late.

 

Authorities have transported the body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani Province for further examination.
