DOGE Cuts Reach Key Nuclear Scientists, Bomb Engineers and Safety Experts

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

In the past six weeks, the agency, just one relatively small outpost in a federal work force that President Trump and his top adviser Elon Musk aim to drastically pare down, has lost a huge cadre of scientists, engineers, safety experts, project officers, accountants and lawyers — all in the midst of its most ambitious endeavors in a generation.

The nuclear agency, chronically understaffed but critically important, is the busiest it has been since the Cold War. It not only manages the nation’s 3,748 nuclear bombs and warheads, it is modernizing that arsenal — a $20-billion-a-year effort that will arm a new fleet of nuclear submarines, bomber jets and land-based missiles.

The Muskrats have probably never heard of institutional memory.

Any savings they achieve will be wiped out by having to hire back the people they have fired as consultants, and the accidents they will cause with their indiscriminate firings.

Chernobyl cost an estimated $700 billion to clean up, ineffectively. Fukushima cost $180 billion.

That's the sort of money that is needed when nuclear accidents are involved.

The left wing socialist Democrats seem to think that money grows on trees. The National increasing dept is a time bomb that will eventually explode on the American taxpayers. But the Democrats do not care as long as the gravy train lasts. The U.S. taxpayers have had enough of the Democrats wasting their hard earned money and this is why Trump won the election. There is waste in every agency of the government regardless of what that is. A recent poll conducted by CNN found that the "Democratic Party approval to record low." The reason for this is much to do with the billions wasted by the Democrats on unnecessary spending.

More likely to increase waste. At least nuclear waste where it doesn't belong.

Do you understand that this is the agency that is crucial for creating nuclear weapons. And the USA is now in the middle of a big program to modernize the arsenal. It's the busiest it's been since the Cold War. And they were already short staffed.

And Elon Musk is so proud of the money he's saving taxpayers that he's made it's impossible to check up on his claims.

So you guys are complaining that we don't have enough nukular bombs now?

Insane.

It started with Trump

Trump seeks $46 billion for nuclear weapons programs in budget request

The Trump administration’s fiscal 2021 budget includes a major increase in nuclear weapons spending from both the Defense Department and the agency in charge of managing nuclear warheads.

Overall spending on nuclear modernization by the Pentagon sits at $28.9 billion in the request, while funding for the National Nuclear Security Administration comes in at $19.8 billion, an almost 20 percent increase for the semiautonomous agency within the Department of Energy from FY20 numbers.

INF nuclear treaty: US pulls out of Cold War-era pact with Russia

The US has formally withdrawn from a key nuclear treaty with Russia, raising fears of a new arms race.

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) was signed by US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987.

It banned missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 km (310-3,400 miles).

So the BBC claiming the Chinese government is celebrating, is reason to believe it’s true?

First, if they were publicly celebrating, it would only be to hurt Trump.

Second, VOA is even further left than the BBC, and they do nothing that benefits the US. We do not need to fund organizations that want to tell the world what an evil empire the United States is.

How much do you think the debt will be reduced with tax cuts, and American exports being boycotted?

Deflect, deflect deflect.  This particular anti-Trump rant is about cutting spending.  Do try to stay on topic.

But to answer your irrevelant question, not enough.

Must cut more.

We could close down a hundred or so overseas bases, we could cut support for genocide, we could abolish the DOE and let states run their own school systems, we could limit regime-change operations, we could audit the pentagon, we could audit purchases made on government credit cards, we could cut funding to NPR and PBS and CPB........oh, there's so much that can be cut from the budget.

It's gonna be gloriously MAGAnificent!

Cut the $37 trillion debt in half at least. So far almost zero impact.

RFA was important. It brought in some of the best minds in DC for dealing with Southeast Asia. See, for instance, Zachary Abuza.

The adjective you are trying to use is IRRELEVANT.  MAGA posters want to cut back on education, so they can drag everyone down to their own ignorant level.

Please do close down your bases in Australia. It just makes us a nuclear target. We get nothing in return, except getting slapped with tariffs.

Thanks to the craven you have in the White House, you are a worthless, faithless and gutless ally.
