Charity Leader Accuses Prince Harry of Toxicity and Bullying

The chair of Sentebale, a charity co-founded by Prince Harry, has accused the Duke of Sussex of toxic behavior, claiming his association has harmed the organization. Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who took over as chair in mid-2023, alleged that the prince's brand had negatively impacted the charity’s ability to attract donors and staff.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Dr. Chandauka revealed she first felt tension with Prince Harry a year ago. She later told Sky News that his handling of his resignation amounted to "harassment and bullying at scale." According to her, the breakdown in relations stemmed from a series of incidents, including a request from the Duke’s team for her to defend his wife, Meghan, from negative media coverage. "I said no, we're not setting a precedent by which we become an extension of the Sussex PR machine," she stated.

Prince Harry and co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho announced their departure from Sentebale earlier this week, citing an irreparable breakdown in the relationship between the charity’s trustees and Dr. Chandauka. However, she refuted claims that she was at fault, arguing that the real issue was Prince Harry himself. "The number-one risk for this organisation was the toxicity of its lead patron's brand," she asserted. She further alleged that Prince Harry had sought to "force a failure and then come to the rescue." In response, she told his team, "The team is resolved that Sentebale will live on, with or without you."

A source close to the former trustees and patrons dismissed the fallout as a "publicity stunt." They stated, "They remain firm in their resignation, for the good of the charity, and look forward to the adjudication of the truth."

The controversy reportedly traces back to an awkward moment during a charity polo match in Miami last April, where Prince Harry captained the winning team. As the players and their partners gathered for a post-match photograph, Meghan Markle allegedly instructed Dr. Chandauka to move away from the Duke. The Zimbabwe-born lawyer was filmed repositioning herself at Meghan's request, which sparked widespread speculation and reportedly enraged the Sussexes.

A well-placed source indicated this was the turning point in their relationship. "Ultimately, it comes down to that polo match and the awkward moment with Meghan moving her out the way," the source said. "Harry then demanded that she make a statement to the press, basically saying ‘Meghan wasn’t mean to me,’ and she refused to do that."

This is how narkle treated Dr Sophie Chandauka... such abysmally bossy behaviour. Passively aggressively directing her with that robotic arm movement she does to guide people into the position she wants. No way was narkle going to be separated from H, and in the process succeeded in making Dr Chandauka look awkward and indecisive... she really doesn't like professional, successful women does she, she always belittles those she is in awe of - as she hasnt succeeded at anything and has achieved precisely nothing, apart from snagging a rather dim Prince...and it's now beginning to look as if she's failed in that department too!

Following this, Prince Harry allegedly worked with the trustees to push Dr. Chandauka out. "Ever since that point, they’ve tried their best to move her out, using the trustees in order to undermine her, demean her, and try and force her hand," the source claimed.

Dr. Chandauka, who has led the charity’s efforts to support individuals in southern Africa living with HIV and AIDS, has insisted that Sentebale will continue despite the Duke’s departure. Meanwhile, BBC News has reached out to Sentebale for further comment.

The charity is now being investigated by the Charity commission, so more insight may be forthcoming then.

Not the first time the Sussex’s have been accused of mistreatment of people. Not the first time he’s attacked someone in print either.

Oh look, you’re attacking a woman for her looks again,

Actually I was highlighting by way of comparison the beauty of this black, fearless, female leader of the charity.

Some people just see the negative in everything.
