Now he claims Iran is "begging for a deal". And the US "totally controls the Strait of Hormuz".

It's not about whining, it's about facing reality, whatever Trump may do. Currently, China is controlling a dominant share of critical minerals supply and it will take significant time and money to challenge its dominance.

So if there's a way to travel far enough into the future when the problem has been solved and bring back those sorely needed minerals to the present? Is that what you're referring to?

The partnership you mentioned is not particularly about becoming self-sufficient, it's about developing alternative sources in order to become less dependent on China. How long will it require? Unfortunately probably 10 years?
