No you're fine. The 15 days is for the initial non O, no such limit for your extension.

Oh phew, thanks a lot - and sorry for hijacking.

But just to put my mind at rest, if my 1-year stamp is good until May 23, I'm fine to show up at CW with my docs to apply for the 1yr extension on May 21, right?

Edit: Looking through my passport I've done this in previous years with 1-2 days left so I think I'm fine as long as nothing's changed since then...

Am I screwed?

Nup.  As pointed out above the 15/21 days prior is for the Non O application.

For extension you can go up to day of expiry..

Obviously have few, days up your sleeve in case immigration want something you didn't provide.

You do  not lose days by extending early.

No problems. But as said, a few days to spare will be handy in case of unexpected requests.

There is nothing to be gained by doing extension late.

Don't follow the thinking.

At CW you can do it up to 45 days early.

I always do it 30-days in advance - probably due to experience with more troublesome-type extensions in the past (marriage-based), where they may ask for unexpected things.  No days are lost doing it early - but no penalty up to the last day, if you have everything they want.

Yeah, that ends up falling around Songkran - and that plus the various public holidays after Songkran always end up adding up to lots of travel, and I know from bitter experience that CW hate moving the "awaiting approval" return date due to travel - had to go down to the print shop to print out flight e-tickets a couple of years ago to appease them.

But you're right, there's a middle ground between that and last minute, well noted - thanks to all who helped!
