A 19-year-old man has turned himself in to police after fatally stabbing a 59-year-old man in the town of Rassada, Phuket. The victim, identified as Mr. Jatuchok, was reportedly known in the local community for drunken behaviour and confrontational outbursts.

The incident occurred at approximately 13:30 on 20 April near a local grocery shop in Soi Honsaithong, Village 3, Rassada Subdistrict. Emergency medical services responded swiftly and transported the injured man to hospital. He had sustained a critical stab wound below his right ribcage and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators from Phuket City Police immediately launched a manhunt and began reviewing CCTV footage. Later that evening, officers seized a white and red Honda Scoopy motorbike registered in Phuket, linked to the suspect. The alleged attacker, identified only as “Mos” , later contacted authorities and voluntarily surrendered.

Police Colonel Chatree Chukaew, Superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, along with Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Atthawut Suwanrat and Investigating Officer Police Captain Kant Aksonthong, accepted the suspect’s surrender in Soi 7, Honsaithong, and took him into custody.

The suspect’s 20-year-old sister, known only as “Ann”, gave a tearful account of the events leading to the tragedy. She explained that the deceased frequently harassed her while intoxicated, often shouting abuse and wielding metal rods. On the day of the incident, she was preparing to close her sweet drinks shop when the victim approached, shouting aggressively and appearing to brandish a weapon.

“I was terrified,” she said. “He kept shouting and making loud noises with two metal rods, scraping them together. I was so scared I hid on the ground behind the counter and started crying.”

Ann said she called her brother in a panic, asking him to come and help. By the time he arrived, the victim had apparently moved away, but sometime later the pair encountered each other on the street. During a verbal altercation, Mos stabbed Mr. Jatuchok once in the chest.

She insisted that her brother acted out of fear and anger, concerned for her safety. “He was upset because he thought I was being threatened. He lost control. He didn’t mean for this to happen,” she said. She tearfully apologised to the victim’s family, pleading for understanding from the public. “My brother loves me very much. He wasn’t thinking straight. I’m so sorry.”

Police have charged Mos with assault leading to death. The investigation is ongoing.
