We have these.

Thailand cost is x1.5 the price in Australia.

An important feature for me is low noise. Ours has three noise levels, and on the sleep setting you don't notice it running, even in a quiet room.

We found a very noticeable improvement in the air quality.

It also has an app so you can control it from your phone.

Ours cover a decent area, but you can save money with cheaper models if only using them in a smaller room.

There are better, hospital-grade purifiers you can buy, but at some pretty steep prices.

Check reviews to see what other people think of noise levels and filter replacement costs for any model you are interested in.

At the end of the day, fresh air from outside is my preference, but in many places in Thailand, it's not practical.

Right now in Melbourne, Australia, the AQI is 8, not a figure you often see in Bangkok.

Xiaomi fan, though have no experience with others.  Go to Mi store, and you can test the noise level if you think that will bother you.  On high they are a bit loud, but doesn't bother me.

At night having a lower setting (high, auto, sleep).  Auto & high will cycle higher fan when needed.

I have had Xiaomi for years and just bought their latest model for a new place. Very satsfied. They are much quieter than my (rather quiet,  new Mitsu) a/c.

I also have the standard Hatari, but they are much more noisy.

Pure chance...talking to a German guy the 'other week'.....played squash with him (not him, used my racquet).....he marketed and sold  air filtering units ......He said he was almost embarrassed  at the mark up......a small fan "pulling" air through a filter and people paid 10 times the manufacturing costs.

Yes I was thinking about that, surely 😉 you can buy very good filters for your air-conditioner units that would do the same thing as the stand alone air purifier?

My EV has a PM 2.5 filter on the car aircon.

Hepa/2.5 filters are very dense and the standard airconn motor and fan isn't powerful enough to push the air through .

Plenty of instructions how to build a DIY air purifier on the net, even on AN.

I couldn't be bothered for 3-4000 B, but when I opened my Hatari I really thought "hm, I could do this myself".

I also use Filtrate on my a/c, gf says it doesn't help at all (I cant tell you, I wasn't here the last smog season), see @Peterw42

A few months ago a guy posted a picture of what he did....a HEPA filter taped to the back of his pedestal fan intake......I tried it.....but as SWMBO didn't like it it was a non-starter.
