A 32-year-old Australian thrill-seeker, Mr Daherwalid, found himself in legal trouble after a viral video captured his dangerous motorcycle antics on Phuket's Witsanu Road, inciting local outrage. The footage, widely circulated on social media, depicted the tourist performing hazardous wheelies and weaving through traffic on a Honda Click 160, causing significant risk to others on the busy road late Sunday night.

The brazen display prompted furious calls from the community for action. "He was having the time of his life, but no one else was," lamented a local witness, emphasising the menace and disrespect the tourist's actions posed.

Authorities from the Chalong Police Station swiftly responded, successfully apprehending Mr Daherwalid following a concerted effort by patrol and traffic units. The motorcycle's owner was also summoned to aid the investigation. Consequently, the motorcycle has been impounded, and Mr Daherwalid is now facing serious charges for reckless driving that endangered public safety.

The incident underscores Thailand's firm stance that foreign tourists are subject to the nation's laws. "Tourists are welcome but stunts like these are not," stated a Chalong Police officer. This arrest serves as a potent reminder of the legal responsibilities international visitors bear while traversing Thailand's roads, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining safe and respectful environments for all.

Only two cities leading the nonsense... aka Phuket and Pattaya

  • Anybody else spotted the standout connection between these offenders from different foreign countries, Brits, French. Aussie, Belgian?

  • Probably only a slap on the wrist and a small fine. If they really want people to stop doing this give a hefty fine and a boot out of the country. For Thais they can get a small stint in jail alongsid

Has Phuket been designated a city without consulting me first?

Probably only a slap on the wrist and a small fine. If they really want people to stop doing this give a hefty fine and a boot out of the country. For Thais they can get a small stint in jail alongside the fine. Everyone needs to follow the laws, but don’t because there’s very little chance of being caught and punished harshly. Cops do your jobs.

Reckless driving? And then? Paying some Baht and that's all? Ban him from entering again.

Stricter rules and remarkable consequences will stop that idiocy

Send him home with a 5 years ban...

The look and his name says it all but this time Aussie not French. Phuket is full of arabs

Deport and Blacklist easy. Stop to Thai police to be gentle with that kind of tourist

Just googled it, no Witsanu Road in Phuket.

It was Wisit Road, Rawai.   The main road from Chalong to Rawai Beach.  How could they get THAT wrong?  Spell check?

If you hold an Australian passport you are an Australian. If that doesn’t sit well with some people, well it just doesn’t matter.

Yes, it means they are a CITIZEN of 2 countries, but they still retain the nationality of birth.

So if you’re born in Kuwait you will always be a Kuwati not an Australian.

Yes, a poor upbringing in a broken society.

It seems that the Arabs raised in the Middle East are much better behaved an mannered than those brought up in the west.

Where does it say his place of birth is Kuwait not that that matters as he has an Australian passport so has been naturalised and is now a citizen of Australia.
