Maybe Mr. Trump was not paying much attention to Justice Roberts administering  the oath of office because Trump knew it did not contain the word "tariff".

I think he was thinking about lunch.

I think he was just avoiding the question. I don't think he was "trolling" anyone.

In the final analysis, the constitution controls, but what that means is a loaded question. Trump sidestepped the issue.

Quoting Trump in an on the record interview is Trump bashing.

OK.

Who said anyone was bashing Trump?

Trump isn't a lawyer, and he said so. Of course, he should follow the constitution. That's basic stuff. That's the source of his power. That's the controlling document. But currently, some lawyers are in disagreement about how to deal with certain issues when the matter is under appeal.  If the lawyers can't agree, who is Trump to step into the middle of the fray?  The litigation is ongoing.

Maybe that he's losing the trade wars..............again.

Gosh, we'll be in deep trouble in Xi levies tariffs on squirrels!

But on the another hand, at least he hasn't (yet) resorted to executively ordering the termination of American citizens by drone strike without trial.

Trump isn't losing the trade wars.  But why argue about that?  Just sit back and watch what happens.

Ok. I see. Anyway, it's nothing new, right? Trump bashing. Open a thread about Trump, and that's what you encounter. It's to be expected. That's how people have been programed.

Or maybe it's the latest ramblings of a sick old man who can no longer string along a coherent sentence if his life depended on it.

Sad.

Biden is gone.  Deep six by his own party.

'Shocking': Experts question Trump claiming 'I don't know' about upholding Constitution
Trump said he would have to consult with his "brilliant" lawyers.

May 6, 2025, 3:22 AM

<SKIP>

Asked a final time if, as president, he needed to uphold the Constitution, Trump again deflected.

"I don't know. I have to respond by saying, again, I have brilliant lawyers that work for me, and they are obviously going to follow what the Supreme Court said," in what's become a new standard answer in interviews when confronted with similar questions about what the law requires him to do.

"President Trump’s failure to acknowledge that he swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution is unprecedented in American history," Gerhardt said. "Most presidents have not been lawyers, but every president, other than Trump, has acknowledged that every federal official, including the president, has the duty to uphold the Constitution."

Trump, with his right hand raised, took the oath of office on Jan. 20 as prescribed by Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.

"I Donald John Trump do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," Trump said during his inauguration.

That's OK -- If Mr. Trump wants to have a bunch of people tell what an incredible job he is doing, all he has to do is call a Cabinet meeting.

Much easier than Biden having to be told who his “handler of the day” was for the same input.

Wow, how original.

I must admit it was original.  Never before had a sitting President been deep six by his “own people”

So much for loyalty.  Or did they finally see him for the buffoon he was?

Democrats would burn their own mothers at the stake.

I dono I think he’s up to something that comment about not knowing if he has to follow the constitution and he has very good lawyers is worrisome but then again it just might be the rambling of a man with dementia…..it ain’t positive anyway you look at it.

Remember he's considering trying to appoint Stephen Miller as National Security Advisor. trump claims he listens to Miller already a fair amount. I suggest trump (more likely his enablers) are seeding the ground for further efforts in breach of his Oath.
