Police in Trang province have launched an urgent manhunt after three people were found burnt in a grisly “tyre fire” killing in the early hours of the morning of 11 May. The incident occurred in a palm oil plantation in Moo 1, Kalase sub-district, Sikao district.

At approximately 01:10, Sikao Police Station received reports of a fire involving rubber tyres, with possible fatalities. Officers rushed to the scene and discovered around 10 car tyres ablaze. Once the fire was extinguished, investigators uncovered what appeared to be the charred remains of three human bodies within the flames.

Initial investigations have identified the victims as residents of Krabi province, with one named as Mr. Surachet, a foreman taking care of a 170-rai palm plantation. According to police sources, the four suspected perpetrators fled the scene in a stolen vehicle belonging to one of the deceased victims.

Police believe the murders may have stemmed from a personal dispute over the management or control of the palm oil plantation. Authorities have already identified the suspects and are actively pursuing them.

Forensic teams are continuing to examine the scene, while investigators seek further leads on the whereabouts of the fugitive killers.

UPDATE
Families Devastated After Four Found Murdered and Burned in Plantation

The families of four men who were brutally murdered and burned in an oil palm plantation are in deep shock and grief, particularly the relatives of Mr. Anan Tochonok, known locally as “Ko Piak”, one of the victims in a horrifying crime that has shocked the community.

Authorities have now confirmed that there were four victims, including Ko Piak aged 50, all had been shot with various firearms and burned using car tyres in an attempt to conceal the crime. The bodies were discovered in a palm plantation in Moo 1, Kala Se Subdistrict, Sikao District, Trang Province, in the early hours of 11 May. The fourth body, was found buried nearby and believed to have been dead for over two weeks.

Ko Piak, a general technician for a local agricultural firm, was not known to have any enemies. Family members insist he was likely an innocent party who became caught up in the events while assisting others.

His niece-in-law, Ms. Jutamas Chanjarung, 39, recounted Ko Piak’s last known movements. On 9 May, he left his home in Lan Saka District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, at around 07:00 with his two children, heading to pick up gardening equipment before continuing to a durian plantation in Saai Khao Subdistrict, Krabi Province.

At around 16:00, Mr. Surachet Luankiatkajorn, known as “Ko Chet”, a 69-year-old plantation manager, phoned Ko Piak. Roughly an hour later, Ko Piak failed to return to collect his assistants at the durian farm. His sister tried to call him around 19:00, but his phone was off, initially not alarming, but by 20:30, when he still hadn’t returned home, family members grew concerned.

They began checking hospitals and police stations. Eventually, around 01:00, they called Sikao Police Station and were informed of the gruesome discovery. “We were devastated,” said Ms. Jutamas, “Ko Piak was the youngest in the family, a quiet man without enemies.”

Mr. Kiettisak Prikprasong, 29, one of Ko Piak’s assistants, confirmed he had stayed behind at the durian plantation. He said Ko Piak had told him to finish the work while he and two others went to the palm plantation in Trang. “Ko Piak was supposed to return by 17:00, but he never did,” he said. “We feared something had gone terribly wrong.”

Police are investigating the case and are working to establish the motive behind the attack. Some reports suggest it may be linked to disputes over agricultural produce, including missing palm oil, though the families claim they were unaware of any such conflicts.

For now, grieving relatives are left waiting to reclaim their loved ones’ bodies and praying for justice. The families of all four victims have called on the police to pursue the case thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

UPDATE
Arrest Warrants Imminent for Four Gang Members in Shocking Quadruple Murder and Burning Case in Trang

Police are preparing to issue arrest warrants for four suspects believed to be part of a brutal gang responsible for the shocking murder and burning of four individuals in Trang province. The victims include the manager of a palm oil plantation and his staff, whose bodies were discovered burned and partially buried in a drainage canal on the plantation grounds.

The incident, which has deeply shaken the local community, took place in Moo 1, Kalase Subdistrict, Sikao District. According to initial investigations, a group of at least four to five assailants, reportedly well acquainted with the victims, used firearms to shoot Mr. Surachet Luankiatkajorn, known as “Ko Chet,” aged 69, who was the manager of the palm plantation, along with two of his employees, Mr. Anan Tochonok (“Ko Piak”) 49, and Mr. Weerayut Tannula 41. Their bodies were then subjected to the horrific practice of “burning in car tyres” in a nearby drainage trench.

The police later uncovered decomposed remains and partially burned body, believed to belong to a fourth unidentified victim. These were found buried roughly 200 metres from the initial crime scene. It is estimated that that victim had been deceased for approximately two to three weeks prior to discovery.

At around 13:30 on 12 May, forensic officers from Trang Provincial Police brought a .45 calibre bullet recovered from an abandoned structure near the crime scene to Sikao Police Station for further analysis. The location, adjacent to the plantation managed by the victims, is believed to be where the executions were carried out before the bodies were moved and set alight. Bloodstains and other significant evidence were also recovered from this site.

Police also seized an unregistered motorbike and brought it to the police station for examination. Authorities also summoned the mother and wife of a local man named Mr. Bin aged 37, for questioning. Mr. Bin, the manager of a neighbouring 36-rai palm plantation, has emerged as a prime suspect in the case. The interrogation was led personally by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pattharawit Keetmotaneeyakul, Trang Provincial Police Chief, and lasted several hours.

Police have now gathered sufficient witness testimony, circumstantial evidence, and forensic findings to support their case and are preparing to submit a formal request to the Trang Provincial Court for arrest warrants for four suspects in the first round of indictments.

The Trang Provincial Court has issued arrest warrants for four suspects in connection with the gruesome murders and subsequent burning of the bodies, in an oil palm plantation. The incident, which occurred on the night of 10 May in Kalase subdistrict, Sikao district, has shocked local residents and drawn national attention.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri, Commissioner of Police Region 9, personally visited the crime scene and ordered a comprehensive collection of forensic evidence. Investigators believe the murders were motivated by a dispute over the management and financial interests of the palm plantation, rather than extortion or protection racketeering, which had been initially suspected.

Following an in-depth investigation, the court approved warrants for the arrest of the following suspects:

• Mr. Supakorn (alias Bin)

• Mr. Jaranchai

• Mr. Rapheepan

• Mr. Piyasak

The four men face six serious charges:

1. Murder involving torture or acts of extreme cruelty

2. Concealing, relocating, or destroying corpses to cover up the crime

3. Armed robbery

4. Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition

5. Carrying firearms in public without permission

6. Discharging a firearm in a public area without just cause

Authorities have also launched a manhunt for a grey Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck (license plate from Nakhon Si Thammarat), believed to have been stolen by the primary suspect, Mr. Supakorn. It is thought the vehicle may have been hidden by the suspects, who fled to seek refuge with relatives of Mr. Jaranchai in Nam Phut subdistrict, Mueang Trang.

Police are now intensifying their efforts to track down the suspects, dismantle the wider criminal network linked to the plantation dispute, and bring those responsible to justice. The investigation remains ongoing.
