Bro... that’s acting. If he’s living rent-free in your head while playing a 70-year-old mobster, he’s clearly talented and doing his job.

 

That's the problem. His acting is no longer strong enough to forget who he is.

 

I don't see the character. I see De Niro playing a character. We all decline with age. 

 

Like boxers it is sometimes best to bow out in your prime. Nobody wants a ruined legacy.

Presumably Mel Gibson, Roseanne Barr, James Woods, Jon Voight are also washed up actors who's views are a complete irrelevance, and they should also learn to shut their mouths.
