The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is scrapping a proposal issued under former President Joe Biden that would have sharply limited the sale of Americans' private information by "data brokers," according to a Federal Register notice issued Wednesday.

From the source:
“In proposing the limits on data brokers in January, former CFPB Director Rohit Chopra said the sale of Americans' private information to data brokers was a "staggering" problem that also jeopardized national security by putting government officials' privacy at risk”.

This guy(Chopra) was chosen by A naive First Term Potus.Come to Wikipedia you’ll see he’s a close confidant of  Elisabet Warren, a political  enemy  of The current administration. He’s been replaced by acting director Bessent.

Another thing worth mentioning

Under Biden/ Chopra ,America experienced the worse data breech in its history , with millions of Americans Social Security numbers and personal information exposed in 2024.

“ In 2021, he was chosen by President Joe Biden to serve as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.[11][12] Chopra is closely associated with efforts to reform the system of student loans in the United States”.

Rather than attack the man, why not try to explain why the removal of restrictions on the sale of private data is a good idea?

Well' that's not fair! You know he can't do that.

PS. Kudos for being able to decipher "riclag's" post.

Trump is once again rewarding his big financial donors. The amusing part of this is that the MAGA collective is silent. They are the first to froth at the mouth and to claim  tales of conspiracy when it comes to  big companies and government controlling data. And here we are with their beloved dear leader  doing just that and not a word of concern.

I find it easier to go after the guy who crys wolf(Chopra) , CFPB  agency is highly controversial .It looks like a bureaucratic nestegg.I think Trumps admin will find a way to make it responsible , accountable and less controversial.

Google ai:

“The CFPB is a highly controversial agency due to its structure, funding, and enforcement actions, particularly regarding financial institutions. Critics argue that it stifles financial innovation, restricts credit access, and is overly punitive, while supporters emphasize its role in protecting consumers from deceptive practices and securing billions in penalties and refunds. The agency's funding mechanism, which is drawn from financial institutions, has also been a point of contention, with some arguing it creates an unfair conflict of interest”.

I see you are struggling - maybe Google AI can help you explain why removing restrictions on the sale of your private data is a good thing?
