Pattaya rolled out the red carpet for a distinguished Chinese delegation this week, underscoring Thailand's readiness to warmly welcome back Chinese tourists. The visit serves as a pivotal move to rebuild and strengthen tourism links between the two nations.

On May 15, at the Garden Cliff Hotel, Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, accompanied by his secretary Phumpipat Kamolnath, greeted Zhang Li Xin, Director of the Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau of Pudong New Area, Shanghai, and his team. The delegation's mission: to exchange insights on tourism governance and sustainable development, amidst Thailand's ambitions to reclaim its status as a top destination for Chinese tourists, many of whom have turned to Vietnam due to safety concerns.

Mayor Poramet pulled out all the stops in highlighting Pattaya’s appeal as a “fully equipped global tourism hub.” He emphasized the city’s offering of diverse attractions, ranging from natural beauty and cultural landmarks to family entertainment and vibrant nightlife. However, the focal point was not just on leisure but on safety as well.

Reassuring visitors of secure and seamless travel, Poramet detailed Pattaya’s dedication to safety, spotlighting the expanding real-time CCTV traffic monitoring under the Better Pattaya initiative aimed at sustainable tourism. “We strive to ensure every visitor enjoys convenience, happiness, and peace of mind,” he affirmed, aiming to reassure and rekindle interest among Chinese travellers.

This visit is part of a broader campaign by Thai officials to restore confidence among Chinese tourists, crucial drivers of the country's tourism economy. Such interactions aim to redefine Pattaya's narrative, positioning it as a safe, vibrant, and welcoming destination beyond its reputation as a party hotspot.

Who would like to be killed on the roads....in buses, trucks, vans, on motor bikes, bycicle or as pedestrian?

And who wants to visit a country where you would be kidnapped?

And now Thailand is begging: please come back🙏

I wouldn't.😁

To be honest, we don't need those Chinese tourists! As well as Russian tourists who pretend to be tourists but are long stayers instead.

Chinese, Chinese, Chinese! I'm sick of hearing this govt pandering to the Chinese! Just bow down and kiss their feet right now because that's the road you're headed down!
