CAMBODIA-THAI BORDER — The fierce border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand sees no signs of easing, with a worrying escalation of military tension. The firefight erupted at Chong Bok pass in Ubon Ratchathani on May 28, when Cambodian troops reportedly fired upon Thai forces investigating a supposed Cambodian incursion.

This incident has ignited a heightened military response, as confirmed by Thai Army spokesman Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree.

In light of the altercation, Winthai clarified that the Thai military's actions were strictly in self-defence. He emphasised the ongoing commitment of the Thai military to engage diplomatically with Cambodian counterparts, despite the latter's marked lack of cooperation in negotiating peace.

The Thai Second Region army, tasked with observing Cambodian military announcements, continue to find vagueness and reserve in Cambodian attempts to address the conflict.

Amidst this military and diplomatic standstill, Cambodia's increasing troop deployment presents a tangible threat. This strategic military buildup has catalysed concerns within the Thai ranks, prompting Gen Pana Klaewplodthuk, the Thai army commander-in-chief, to place all forces on heightened alert.

This step is seen as crucial, ensuring preparedness against any further incursions after all diplomatic avenues have seemingly been exhausted.

"Our troops remain vigilant, with a steadfast commitment to safeguarding national borders whilst minimising the potential for casualties," stated Winthai. His remarks underscore the Thai army's balanced approach, showcasing both tactical readiness and a profound dedication to a peaceful resolution wherever possible.

Moving forward, the Thai military remains committed to monitoring developments closely, maintaining the duality of being ready for defence while continuing to advocate for peaceful diplomacy. The international community watches closely, hoping for resolution amidst escalated military posturing along one of Southeast Asia's contentious borders.

Thai Army false flag? Did the Defense Minister approve in advance - or was he not even consulted. Only silence, other than more hand shaking. Meantime, it's all over Thai TV7 midday news and they are enabling nationalist nutters to ramp things up more . Shows school kids practising evacuation into air raid shelters. They even have Prayuth on the air. This seems well-planned in advance and is most likely a complete side step of government. First shoe to drop kind of thing and part of a different domestic objective - and not the government's agenda (to be clear).

With a massive increase of flight bookings out of the country of all the Thai generals that all of a sudden have urgent business and defence meeting outside of Thailand.

Is the aircraft carrier being warned up and ready - opp's, forgot they don't have any planes onboard.
