What is Gui? I have not heard of that one. In Sri Saket, there is also a dialekt called Suay.

Suay means beautiful

I'm guessing you can't read or write Thai, and are only a beginner at understanding spoken central Thai.

Im sure it's just the same as Buriram, absolutely nothing to do in the village. I was lucky that my girlfriend's dad had a pig farm, over 200 pigs. I helped him scrape out the pig poo every day with a shovel cos there was literally nothing else to do. But your son will probably enjoy it, with all the wildlife

There's nothing  better than using a bowl with cold water to shower after a hot day. Instant refreshment. In winter, the first bowl is a bit chilly but then no problem. Great.

It's reported that cold water showers are a good thing for your personal health so I believe.

Oh dear - trials and tribulations of a custodian for an 8-year old, eh?

Sounds like you don't have much idea about parental responsibilities.

Try relaxing in peaceful surroundings and enjoy the atmosphere, your kid's development and getting involved in village-like things.

You might enjoy it.

Sounds as though it is something unfamiliar to you.

But I'm sure that isn't the case - but then again, having to ask advice on here.........?

Lots of polite good adviise given by others… and then this comment.

Suay is an incorrect pronunciation of Gui. Probably a pronunciation lost over time.

It's the language spoken by the original elephant herders. Some historians have suggested it's the oldest language in the area and the Gui people predate the Northern Khmers.

The correct word for "Suay" is actually "Gui".

It's not an incorrect pronunciation, it's a different word altogether. Whereas Kuy (Gui) in the Kuy language means "people" or "human being", Suay is an exonym (a name used by people outside the group) meaning, "those who pay tribute."

Thanks for All the suggestions and ideas.

Looks like the plan is shaping up nicely.  We are going to possibly plant some durian trees and create a mini plantation in the extra land that is apparently very well drained and likely a good soil type.

Nana Thailand is going to take some soil samples to the city to get tested to confirm soil will work for durian, if not we will plant something else.

When I was younger, I used to stay on a durian farm in pattani (before all the troubles). Used to hate picking the durians off the ground. They are very tall trees and the durians would be imbedded in the soil.
