Air Defense can be as simple one soldier with a hand held Igla-S (The Russian version of the  Stinger).  Control of Air Space once attained has to be maintained.  This means sorties day and night. To ensure that Iran's air defense is completely knocked out would require verification from the ground. I do not see that happening anytime soon.

Hell yeah. I watched a clip from the Afghan the other day on YouTube, black and white video from an Apache I think it was. Taliban terrorist got ripped apart by the chain gun, it was freakin' awesome.

Over 200 Israeli warplanes hit 100 distinct targets over Iran in the last week including over nuclear infrastructure taking out centrifuges, not one has been taken down.

 

No lone terrorist Iranians with a stinger have succeeded, sorry and the B2 has protection against Stingers and manpads.

 

The risks will always be there, its an active war zone but they are extremely minimal and the benefits far outweigh any tiny risk.
